Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 47

Isabella's POV

I couldn't sit still. I paced back and forth across my suite, waiting.

Any minute now, my personal link would chime. It would be him. From Kai.

He would be calling to thank me. He would tell me his grandfather's recovery was a miracle, that my knowledge had saved him when Valerie's strange magic had failed.

I had already practiced my response a dozen times. Humble, but knowledgeable. "Of course, Alpha. I'm just happy our family's traditions could be of service."

It was the perfect move. It proved my true value. I was a Luna, not some rogue healer.

The doors to my suite suddenly flew open with a deafening bang. They slammed against the interior walls so hard the entire room shook.

I whirled around, my heart leaping into my throat.

It was my father.

He stood in the doorway, his face a mask of cold fury I had never seen before. He looked at me not like a daughter, but like an enemy.

"What," he began, his voice a low, dangerous snarl that was far scarier than any shout, "did you do?"

He took another step closer, his voice dropping even lower. "Valerie had to save him. She had to use a legendary, life-draining power to counteract what you did. A power that has now put her in a magical coma."

The floor seemed to tilt beneath my feet. Coma. The word echoed in my head. This wasn't how it was supposed to happen.

"She is unconscious at the Crimson Fang hospital, and they don't know if she will wake up," he continued, his voice utterly devoid of any love or warmth. He looked at me with pure disgust.

He threw the small vial onto my vanity table. It skittered across the polished surface and came to rest against a bottle of expensive perfume.

"You didn't just make a mistake, Isabella. You almost started a war."
