Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

With Hunter’s help, Mrs. Sullivan finally managed to get up from the floor. “Mr. Jamison, words can’t express how grateful I am. From now on, you’re the Sullivan family’s greatest benefactor, and you’ll always be Nerissa’s grandpa!”

That last part was Mrs. Sullivan’s promise to Hunter.

Even if she took Arie back to Kindowen, she’d make sure Hunter came along with them.

Hunter had raised Nerissa since she was a child.

The Sullivan family would never abandon him.

Hunter helped Mrs. Sullivan settle onto the couch.

Nerissa handed her a cup of hot tea. “Grandma, have some tea and try to relax.”

Mrs. Sullivan took a sip, trying her best to calm herself. She looked at Hunter. “Mr. Jamison, I heard that when you found Arie back then, she was lying in a ditch, covered in blood. Could you tell me exactly what happened when you found her?”

She just couldn’t wrap her head around it.

Why would her precious granddaughter end up thousands of miles away, lying in a ditch and covered in blood?

Every time she heard those words-“covered in blood”-it felt like the air was being squeezed out of her lungs.

‘Who could do something like this?

‘Who would want to destroy my family, to make sure I have no descendants left?’ Mrs. Sullivan thought.

Ding-dong, ding-dong-

Just as Hunter was about to say something, the doorbell

rang.

Nerissa hurried over to open the door.

As soon as she opened it, she saw a throng of people crowding outside.

At the front stood Mrs. Berenson.

Behind her were the Berenson family’s eight uncles, eight aunts, and thirteen male cousins.

There were over twenty people in total.

Before Nerissa could even react, Mrs. Berenson pulled her into a tight hug. “Arie, Arie, my precious Arie! The moment I saw you, I just knew-you had to be my Arie!”

“My sweet girl, my precious heart, at long last, I’ve finally found you,” Mrs. Berenson choked out.

Nerissa sobbed, “Grandma,” the tears she’d just managed to hold back now spilling down her cheeks again.

“Arie, I’m your eldest uncle!” one of the Berenson uncles called out, squeezing in with the rest of the family.

“Second uncle here!” another piped up, waving excitedly.

“And I’m your eldest aunt!” one of the aunts added, her voice full of warmth.

“Arie, it’s me-your seventh uncle!” another uncle chimed in, grinning from ear to ear.

“Arie, don’t forget your third uncle!” yet another joined in, eager to be recognized.

“And me, Arie! I’m your youngest uncle-Frederick!”

Frederick, worried Nerissa might not notice him, hopped up and waved enthusiastically.

“Uncle Frederick!” Nerissa called out politely.

The adults were so hyped up that the Berenson family’s thirteen cousins barely got a word in.

“Arie, look at me! I’m your sixth brother Shaw!” one of the cousins shouted, waving frantically.

“Hey, move it!” Oliver shoved Shaw aside. “I’m the oldest, and I haven’t even had my turn yet! You, number six, get to the back of the line!”

“Yeah, everyone line up and wait your turn!” another cousin chimed in.

Shaw pouted, looking all kinds of wronged. “Whatever, I’ll get in line!”

Nerissa greeted everyone one by one.

“Hi, Uncle Victor! Hi, Aunt Verena! Uncle Joel, Aunt Jessica! Uncle Lawrence, Aunt Eliana! Uncle Harvey, Aunt Marianne! Uncle Jasper, Aunt Joanna! Uncle Sean, Aunt Nancy! Uncle Boaz, Aunt Aileen! Uncle Frederick, Aunt Chloe!”

The eight Berenson uncles and aunts gazed at their pretty and confident niece, their eyes brimming with tears of joy.

Nineteen years.

They’d waited nineteen long years.

Finally, they heard her call them “uncle” and “aunt.”

“Oliver, Xavier, Silas, Burke, Sebastian, Shaw, Levi, Aron, Herman, Ray, Mirror, Ryan, and Dawn!”

All thirteen brothers were so touched, they were practically speechless.

How wonderful.

They finally had a little sister of their own. No more being jealous of other families with sisters-they had one

now!

The living room, which had been empty just moments before, was suddenly packed and buzzing as the whole Berenson crew poured in.

Nerissa started introducing everyone. “Grandma, uncles, aunts, and brothers-this is my grandpa.”

Then, smiling warmly at Hunter, she said, “Grandpa, this is my grandma, my eight uncles and aunts, and my thirteen brothers!”

Mrs. Berenson hurried over to Hunter and warmly took his hand. “Mr. Jamison, thank you so much. Thank you for taking such good care of our Arie all these years.”

Then she turned to her family. “Everyone, bow to Mr. Jamison.”

The eight Berenson uncles and aunts lined up in front, with the thirteen cousins behind them. Together, they all said, “Thank you, Mr. Jamison!”

Everyone bowed together, making for an impressive and heartfelt scene.

“No need to thank me, really,” Hunter said, a little overwhelmed by all the attention. “Nerissa is family to me, just like my own granddaughter. Taking care of her is just what I should do.”

Mrs. Berenson went on, “Mr. Jamison, you saved Arie’s life nineteen years ago, and now, you’re the Berenson family’s biggest hero. From now on, you’re not just Arie’s grandpa-you’re grandpa to all thirteen of our kids. They’ll be there for you, just like Arie, and make sure you’re happy and cared for.”

Then she turned to the thirteen cousins behind her. “Oliver, Xavier, Silas, Burke, Sebastian, Shaw, Levi, Aron, Herman, Ray, Mirror, Ryan, and Dawn-come on, hurry up and greet Mr. Jamison!”

The thirteen Berenson cousins all stepped forward, lined up in front of Hunter, and called out together, “Hi, Grandpa!”

“Good, good, good,” Hunter couldn’t help but grin, totally delighted to see so many kids calling him grandpa.

After everyone finished introducing themselves, they all squeezed onto the sofas and got to talking.

Good thing Nerissa had picked a villa that was move-in ready, with a massive sofa set in the living room- otherwise, with more than thirty people packed in, they’d have been seriously short on seats.

Nerissa nestled between her two grandmas, Mrs. Berenson and Mrs. Sullivan.

Each of them held onto one of Nerissa’s arms, their faces beaming with happiness.

Mrs. Sullivan continued, “Selene, and all of Arie’s uncles and aunts, to be honest, I’ve always suspected that the car crash that took Arie and her parents wasn’t just some accident-it was done on purpose. Otherwise, how could Arie have ended up all the way in Greenview, thousands of miles from home?”

She looked over at Hunter. “Mr. Jamison, now that everyone’s here, could you tell us how you found Arie back then?”

When he heard the question, Hunter looked like he was right back on that morning nineteen years ago. He started telling his story.

“It was spring, but still pretty chilly out. I got up early to take the sheep out, and when I walked past an irrigation ditch, I heard a child crying. At first, I thought I was just hearing things, so I just brushed it off. But on my way back, I heard the crying again-only this time, it was much softer, barely louder than a kitten’s

mew.”

Out in the mountains, folks just called any irrigation channel a “ditch”.

So, everyone always said Hunter found Nerissa in a ditch.

But actually, it was an irrigation channel.

Hunter kept going, his voice steady but full of emotion.

her up,

“So I rushed along the ditch, searching everywhere. Sure enough, it didn’t take long before I found Nerissa lying there. She was wearing a blue cotton-padded jacket, her whole body covered in blood. When I picked

her voice was so hoarse from crying she could barely make a sound. Her eyes were the only thing that moved her face was as pale as a sheet, and she was barely hanging on, breathing so faintly it was scary. There were people working nearby, and when they saw me carrying a kid, they all crowded around, curious. When they saw how bad Nerissa looked, everyone said she was a lost cause and told me to just leave her there. But I just couldn’t do it-she looked so pitiful, so I brought her home. Guess Nerissa was just meant to survive. After I got her back, I gave her some warm sugar water, cleaned her up with a hot bath-honestly, I was just trying anything, never thought she’d actually make it. But she did.

“Not only did she survive, she even gave me a tiny smile. From that moment on, I decided-this kid was going to be my granddaughter, no matter what.”

Once again, the memories from nineteen years ago came flooding back.

Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Berenson, and the whole Berenson clan listened with their hearts in their throats, barely able to breathe. The tears they’d just managed to stop were back again, streaming down their faces.

‘She was just a three-month-old baby, left soaking wet in a ditch!’ everyone thought, their hearts twisting with

shock.

‘She was covered head to toe in blood!’

No one could even begin to imagine what kind of hell that tiny baby had gone through-just three months old, somehow surviving in that place, hanging on until Hunter finally found her.

Victor, eyes red from crying, immediately asked, “Hunter, when you found Arie in that irrigation channel, was there anyone else with her?” After all, Charlotte had disappeared together with Ariel back then.

‘If Ariel was found in the irrigation ditch, could Charlotte have been there too?’

As soon as Victor spoke, nearly everyone turned to Hunter, waiting anxiously for his answer.

“No,” Hunter shook his head gently. “There was only Nerissa in that ditch.”

Everyone’s faces fell with disappointment.

But then Hunter seemed to remember something and quickly said, “Actually, I still have the baby clothes Nerissa was wearing back then, and the necklace she had on. Do you guys want to see them? Maybe we’ll find some clue.”
