Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 134

Chapter 134

Mrs. Mason was over the moon.

She had to admit, Anna showing up was a lifesaver for her.

With this Miracle Heart Pill, her son wouldn’t have to miss a single class, and he could skip that scary surgery altogether.

Talk about hitting the jackpot!

So, Mrs. Mason wasn’t joking about thanking Anna after Timothy was healed.

She meant every word, if her son got better, Anna could expect a serious thank you coming her way.

Anna couldn’t hide her excitement when she heard Mrs. Mason’s words. She flashed a bright smile and replied, “Mrs. Mason, no need to be so polite. As long as your son recovers and his schoolwork doesn’t suffer, I’ll be relieved.” ‘Honestly, seeing him get better is all I want,’ Anna thought to herself.

Mrs. Mason took Anna’s hand and said, “If this Miracle Heart Pill really works and my son recovers, in fifteen days, I’ll have him call you his sworn sister.”

‘Sworn sister?’ Anna’s heart skipped a beat.

She was honestly floored by the offer.

The Mason family was no ordinary household. Most people weren’t even worthy to carry Timothy’s shoes, let alone be named his sworn sister.

But now?

“Mrs. Mason, I’m just the Sullivan family’s granddaughter. How could I possibly be worthy of being Timothy’s sworn sister? If anyone should have that honor, it ought to be my sister, Ariel…” Anna said, her voice dripping with false humility.

Of course, Anna had deliberately brought up Ariel at this moment.

People always needed someone to compare themselves to.

Only by contrast could her own excellence truly shine.

And right now, Nerissa was the perfect stepping stone to make Anna look even better.

At the mention of Nerissa, a flicker of annoyance crossed Mrs. Mason’s face. “Miss Jamison really scared me with all that drama. She almost had me rushing Timothy off to the hospital for surgery. If that had happened, he’d be out of commission for half a year! Anna, no offense, but aside from her being born into a fancier family, she’s got nothing on you.”

With that, Mrs. Mason took Anna’s hand. “Anna, you’re definitely going to be Timothy’s sworn sister!”

Anna blushed, looking a little shy. “Mrs. Mason, you really don’t have to be so formal. Just call me Anna.”

“Alright, Anna,” Mrs. Mason said with a warm smile. “And you can call me Mrs. Mason from now on.”

“Okay, Mrs. Mason,” Anna replied.

The two of them chatted away, getting along like old friends.

Halfway through the party, Anna strolled over to Dawn, a glass of red wine in hand.

“Dawn,” she called out sweetly.

“Anna,” Dawn replied politely.

Anna gave a helpless little smile. “Dawn, I told you, we don’t have to be so formal with each other. Just call me Anna.”

According to those psychology books, guys get all flustered around the girls they like, they can’t even bring themselves to look her in the eye, Anna thought.

‘Honestly, Dawn is exactly like that with me,’ Anna mused to herself.

Dawn never dared to meet her

gaze.

And every time he saw her, he always called her “Miss Anna.”

That kind of formal address might seem distant, but Anna knew it was just his nerves talking.

Thinking that, Anna grinned and said, “Never mind, Dawn, just call me whatever you like! Come on, let’s clink glasses.”

With that, Anna raised her glass.

Dawn raised his glass too.

Clink!

The crystal glasses met with a clear, cheerful ring.

“Oh, by the way, Dawn, we haven’t even swapped WhatsApp yet. Wanna add each other now?” Anna said with a bright smile.

“Dawn!” Just then, Faye’s voice called out from across the room.

For Dawn, it was music to his ears. He immediately looked up and called back to Faye, then turned to Anna with an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Anna, I need to head over there for a bit.”

“Alright, Dawn, go ahead,” Anna replied with a smile.

But behind that smile, her eyes glinted with poison.

She was like a snake lurking in the dark.

‘Damn that little bitch!’ Anna cursed inwardly.

‘Nerissa is a little bitch,

‘Her friends are bitches too!’

‘I was the one who wanted to get close to Dawn. What right does Faye have to butt in?’ Anna fumed.

She was so close to getting Dawn’s WhatsApp.

And another thing, Dawn liked her, not Faye.

‘Dawn likes me, not Faye,’ Anna thought, her confidence unshaken.

‘Faye is the Penhaligon family’s heiress. How could she stoop so low and try to be the side chick?’ Anna scoffed.

‘What a shameless bitch!’

Anna had never met anyone so shameless in her life.

But ever since Nerissa came back, she’d been running into all kinds of drama.

Anna was so mad she could barely breathe, but had to keep that flawless smile plastered on her face.

Dawn hurried over to Faye.

Ryan was already chatting with her.

“Fifi, what did you need me for?” Dawn asked.

Faye grinned. “Ryan and I were about to play rock-paper-scissors, but we’re one person short. How about the three of us play together?”

“Sure,” Dawn nodded.

Soon, the three of them were having a blast playing rock-paper-scissors.

Whoever lost had to take a drink.

Of course, Faye was just sipping on a soda.

The more Anna watched, the angrier she got, she was so pissed she could’ve bitten through her own pearly whites.

“Anna,” called a gentle voice.

Just then, a young woman in a white evening gown walked over to Anna.

Anna snapped out of her thoughts, looked up, and smiled affectionately. “Sue.”

Her name was Sue.

She was the heiress of the CrivelLiu Group in Crivel, a classmate of Van, and secretly had a crush on him.

Sue pulled Anna over to a chair and sat down with her. “Anna, didn’t your brother come back? How come I haven’t seen him?”

“He’s not in the best mood today,” Anna whispered.

Sue frowned, “He’s not in the best mood?”

She leaned in a little, “Why?”

Anna glanced around, sighed, and said softly, “Honestly, it’s kind of my fault for blabbing. If I hadn’t brought it up, Van wouldn’t have gotten all upset thinking about the past.”

Sue asked, her eyes full of curiosity, “So, what was it?”

Anna started to say something, but stopped herself at the last second. “I’m sorry, Sue. I wish I could tell you, but I just can’t.”

Sue hadn’t been all that curious at first, but Anna’s words made her perk up. She had a thing for Van, and if she could figure out why he was in a bad mood, maybe she could cheer him up. Honestly, she was here tonight for Van, and only Van.

“What’s so secret you can’t tell me?” Sue put on a mock-serious face.

Anna looked a little embarrassed and said, “Sue, can we just not talk about it? Please don’t ask me anymore.”

Sue put on a mock-serious face. “Anna, if you won’t even share something this tiny with me, are you really treating me like some stranger?”

Anna hurried to explain, “Come on, Sue, don’t say that! I’ve always thought of you as family.”

“Come on, Anna, just tell me, what’s really going on with Van?” Sue said, her expression turning earnest.

Anna furrowed her brows, looking a bit conflicted. “Sue, you have to swear, if I tell you, you can’t tell a soul. My grandma was super clear about this, she said absolutely no one else can find out.”

“Okay,” Sue nodded.

Anna hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. “Honestly, Van’s only upset because of my sister, Ariel.”

“Ariel?” Sue asked, sounding genuinely puzzled. “Why would he be upset because of her?”

Honestly, Sue thought Nerissa was pretty nice.

She was beautiful, knew when to speak and when to keep quiet, and never rubbed anyone the wrong way.

“You know Van, he absolutely can’t stand those divorced women who are unfaithful in marriage and don’t take responsibility for their families,” Anna said quietly, her tone full of concern. ‘He really despises that kind of woman,’ she thought to herself.

Sue’s eyes went wide. “Wait, Ariel’s been divorced?”

And she’s really that kind of woman, always flirting around, never loyal to her family or her marriage?’ Sue thought, stunned.

Anna nodded, then quickly put a finger to her lips. “Shh! Sue, keep your voice down. It’s not exactly something you want people to know about, make sure no one else hears us.”
