Chapter 22 Success
At this moment, nearly everyone’s eyes were fixed on Nerissa’s face.
Everyone was waiting for her answer, their eyes filled with anticipation, everyone except Rhys.
Rhys already knew the result in his heart.
Lennox was in such a critical condition that unless God Himself intervened, no one could bring him back to full consciousness and health.
So, there was only one likely outcome waiting for Lennox, and that was death.
Poor Hannah was about to attend her son’s funeral.
Just then, Nerissa spoke softly, “Mr. Stratford is fine now.”
‘Fine? Is Lennox fine? Really fine?’ Riley thought, stunned for a moment before snapping back to reality.
She turned to Ethan, tears of joy streaming down her face. “Ethan, did you hear that? Ms. Jamison said Lennox is fine now.” Ethan squeezed Riley’s hand tightly, still struggling to believe it. He dared not imagine Lennox was truly okay. Hearing this good news, Luke jumped up on the spot. “Ms. Jamison, you’re amazing. You’re my goddess.”
Rhys frowned deeply and wondered, ‘Impossible. I’m Lennox’s primary doctor. I know his condition.
‘His lung and heart damage are severe. Even the most brilliant doctors alive couldn’t wake him up so quickly. This has to be a lie. Nerissa’s deceiving us.’
Rhys narrowed his eyes and smiled coldly. “Congratulations, Ms. Jamison. You truly are a miracle worker. Since Mr. Stratford is fine now, will you let us in to see him?”
He intended to personally expose Nerissa’s lie.
At the same time, Riley caught on and looked up at Nerissa. “Ms. Jamison, can I go in now to see Lennox?”
Rhys’s lips curled slightly. ‘I want to see what excuse Nerissa will use to dodge Riley’s question, he wondered.
But in the next moment, Nerissa replied quietly, “Yes, let’s go in.”
Rhys was taken aback; a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.
Rhys wondered, ‘Right now, shouldn’t she be trying to stall the Stratford family, keeping them out of the sterile room? But Nerissa shows not a trace of panic. Could it be-‘
Rhys felt a bad premonition. ‘Could it be that Nerissa actually saved Lennox?’ he thought.
He quickly dismissed the thought. Nerissa didn’t have that kind of ability.
He had to uncover her true nature as soon as possible.
They entered the sterile room. Lennox lay on the hospital bed, eyes closed tight, barely showing any sign of life.
Rhys let out a harsh breath of relief upon seeing Lennox’s current state, then turned to Nerissa and questioned, “Ms. Jamison, didn’t you say Mr. Stratford was awake?”
Ethan looked equally puzzled. “Ms. Jamison, you said Lennox was fine, so why isn’t he awake yet?”
“Mr. Merritt, please don’t rush,” Nerissa replied calmly. She took a small porcelain vial from her medical kit, removed the stopper, and brought it close to Lennox’s nose.
Rhys snorted coldly and wondered, ‘Playing tricks. Does she really think a sniff from that vial is some kind of miracle cure that will wake him up?”
But in the very next second, Lennox suddenly opened his eyes.
“Lennox,” Riley exclaimed, overwhelmed with emotion. “You’re awake.”
Ethan and Luke’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Lennox?” they exclaimed.
“Riley, Ethan,” Lennox spoke slowly, his voice still weak but carrying a commanding presence.
Riley wept tears of joy. “Lennox, how do you feel now? Are you still in pain?”
“Much better. Don’t worry,” Lennox replied, not merely comforting Riley, but truly feeling as if the heavy stone pressing on his chest had vanished in an instant.
Riley wiped her tears and glanced at Nerissa bu
Lennox turned his gaze toward a figure nearby.

Chapter 22 Success
The girl stood there quietly, expression calm, her refined face unmoved.
‘So that wasn’t a dream. It really happened, Lennox thought.
Lennox’s thin lips parted slightly. “Ms. Jamison, I owe you my life. I won’t forget this debt.”
If anyone else had heard those words, they would have felt honored beyond measure.
After all, this was Lennox, the head of the Stratford family.
Ordinary people didn’t even have the chance to hold any debt to Lennox.
But Nerissa’s expression remained calm, almost indifferent, as if she were talking to some random passerby rather than the famous big shot. Her voice was equally flat. “No need for the debt, Mr. Stratford. I don’t work for free.”
Nerissa had already repaid the life-saving debt from the elevator incident. It was Lennox who hadn’t seized the opportunity. Her coming to treat Lennox late at night was definitely not out of charity.
Besides, she really needed the money right now.
‘No need for the debt? Everyone else tries every trick to get close to me, but she keeps distancing herself, even trying to buy her way out with money, Lennox wondered.
She was truly different from any other woman Lennox had met before.
With that, Nerissa handed a prescription to Luke. “Although Mr. Stratford is awake now, he still needs to take the medicine for another half month to stabilize his condition.
“If you don’t follow the medical advice this time, no one will be able to save him.”
Nerissa wasn’t exaggerating. Though Lennox had improved, his condition was still delicate. If he stopped medication or ignored the doctor’s orders, a relapse could happen at any time.
Luke quickly replied, “Ms. Jamison, don’t worry. This time, we’ll definitely follow the instructions and take the medicine properly.”
Nerissa then said, “It’s late. I’ll be going now.”
Riley quickly handed Luke a card. “Luke, please see Ms. Jamison home.”
“Got it, Mom,” Luke answered.
Nerissa didn’t refuse. 3 a.m. wasn’t a good time to catch a taxi.
Rhys stood by the door, watching Nerissa with a defeated expression, unable to believe she was really that skilled.
‘Even I couldn’t save Lennox, and yet Nerissa did. What is she? Just a girl? With all my medical knowledge, I was still beaten by a little girl?’ Rhys wondered. He couldn’t accept such a blow.
Luke looked at him and snorted coldly, “Rhys, why don’t you move aside and give Ms. Jamison some space?”
Luke deliberately emphasized his respect for Nerissa.
He then turned back to Nerissa, “Ms. Jamison, congratulations. You’ve just gained yourself a reputation.”
Luke said it willingly.
From now on, in his mind, Nerissa was just as impressive as Lennox.
Nerissa smiled faintly, “Thank you.”
Rhys lowered his head, burning with embarrassment, wishing he could crawl into a hole and disappear.
That feeling was worse than death.
Inside the ward, Lennox simply stared in the direction Nerissa had left, lost in thought. His deep eyes seemed bottomless. Riley couldn’t help but speak up. “They say when someone saves your life, you should marry them. Since Ms. Jamison saved you, aren’t you going to marry her?”
Lennox withdrew his gaze and firmly replied, “Riley, I’m not into marriage.”
“Ms. Jamison is so young, so beautiful, and such a skilled doctor. I can’t believe you’re not tempted. Don’t you want to make her your wife?”
“There’s more to this world than just love between men and women. There are other bonds. Repaying a debt doesn’t have to follow old customs like marrying the savior,” Lennox glanced at Riley. “Riley, don’t be so clich
