“Thank goodness,’ she thought.

Lennox had only just gotten here himself.

“Mr. Stratford, I’m heading back now,” Nerissa said.

After thinking for a moment, Nerissa added, “It’s pretty late tonight. Maybe next time, I’ll have you over for coffee at my place.”

It was just a little after eight.

‘Is that considered late?’ Lennox thought to himself.

Still, even though he was puzzled, Lennox kept his questions to himself.

Only after Nerissa disappeared into the building did he get back in his car, closed the door, and drove away.

Owen slouched in his boss chair, checking his phone every three or four minutes since yesterday.

But Nerissa never messaged him at all.

She didn’t even accept his friend request.

‘Why?’ Owen grumbled to himself.

‘Seriously, why?’ he thought, getting more annoyed by the second.

‘What is Nerissa even trying to pull?’ Owen wondered, feeling his patience snap.

‘Does she actually want me to go hunt her down?’ he rolled his eyes.

‘Like I’d ever go running after her myself, Owen scoffed.

The sound came from outside the office.

“Come in,” Owen called out, his voice tight with frustration.

Yale strode in, calling out, “Hey, Owen.”

“What’s up?” Owen narrowed his eyes. “Did Nerissa reach you?”

‘Yes!’ Owen thought, certain of it.

‘She must’ve gone to Yale herself,’ he told himself, almost giddy at the idea.

Owen’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Yale blinked in surprise, and then shook his head. “Nope.”

‘Nope?’ Owen thought, his irritation spiking.

Anger flashed in Owen’s eyes.

Yale set the documents down on the desk. “Hey Owen, I wanted to talk to you about Kinsbeat Game. They just posted on their official account that they’re dropping Splendor Peak in two days. Our new game’s pretty much done too. When do you think we should release it?”

“Let’s launch ours in two days too!” Owen said.

“Two days from now?” Yale frowned. “Owen, judging from the screenshots Kinsbeat Game posted, they might actually pull off the first AAA blockbuster in the country. If we want to snag the spotlight, we should drop ours before they do. If we release at the same time as Kinsbeat Game…”
