But Megan turned around and whispered to Aurora, “Just seeing that woman makes me uneasy. She’s been scheming in the business world for years. How could you, a newcomer, ever be compared to her?”
Aurora was speechless.
Megan’s words were blunt, but Aurora had to admit that she wasn’t wrong.
Unfortunately, Yvonne heard every word. She let out a mocking laugh.
With her arms crossed and a smug look on her face, Yvonne glanced at Aurora.
“What’s this? Is that all you and your friend can do? I just came here to do my makeup, and you’re already this scared?”
“Do yours, and we’ll do ours. We stay out of your way, you stay out of ours. No need to talk to us,” Megan shot back, spreading her arms like a mother hen shielding her chick, standing protectively in front of Aurora.
Her eyes followed Yvonne’s every move, ready for anything.
But Yvonne merely sat down lazily in front of the mirror, starting on her makeup with a smirk, watching Megan’s movements as if she were watching a clown.
“Relax. This is a dressing room. I’m not stupid enough to start a fight with Aurora here.”
She extended her hand, admiring her manicure, and said slowly, “Besides, I’m here to record a show, not to act like some fool shouting and posturing like you two. It’s really ruining my mood.
“If you’ve got any sense, you’ll sit back down and stop waving your long arms around. I’m not in the mood to watch you make a fool of yourself.”
Megan’s face shifted through colors like a painter’s palette—flushed one moment, pale the next.
Even as a woman herself, she couldn’t help but envy Aurora’s beauty.
There was no denying that Aurora’s features were flawless.
And just sitting there quietly, she looked like a living painting.
Aurora looked at Yvonne politely and said, “Miss Song, I think there’s been a misunderstanding. My friend meant no harm. She only spoke out of concern for me, so there’s no need for you to take it personally.”
“Wasn’t she the one gossiping about me behind my back?” Yvonne shot back.
Aurora was momentarily stunned by the bluntness, but she still instinctively defended Megan. “She’s my friend. She only said those things to look out for me. I did try to stop her earlier, so I hope you won’t hold it against her.”
