If you looked closely, you’d see tears welling in Megan’s eyes too. Her heart ached just as much.
She knew Aurora was only trying to protect her, but she also wanted to stand in front of Aurora to shield her and keep her from getting hurt.
Yet she suddenly realized that when she tried too hard to protect something or someone, she could end up looking foolish without meaning to.
In that instant, Megan understood just how wrong she’d been.
She stepped forward and wrapped her arms tightly around Aurora, holding her by the waist, refusing to let go.
“I’m sorry, Aurora. I really was wrong. I should’ve listened to you from the start.”
For the first time, Megan cried in Aurora’s arms like a child, clinging to her as if afraid she might disappear.
It was like someone lost in a desert finally finding a drop of water.
Feeling her tremble, Aurora’s chest tightened. She gently patted Megan’s back to comfort her.
“Don’t worry,” she murmured softly. “The recording will start soon. She wouldn’t be stupid enough to cause a scene here.”
Aurora continued, her voice calm but firm. “And with so many people around, and the live stream coming up, I think after what happened yesterday, Yvonne will keep herself in check.
“More importantly, we can’t let anyone come between us. What matters most is that we stay united.”
Megan listened and nodded, realizing Aurora was right.
They had to stand together.
Otherwise, they’d only give Yvonne something to laugh about.
They both knew what the other meant deep down, and that understanding ran too deep to be broken by trivial matters.
Still, Megan couldn’t help but reflect on herself. She needed to control her temper better.
Otherwise, staying by Aurora’s side would only bring her more unnecessary trouble.
And when that happened, Aurora would once again end up apologizing on her behalf, just like she did to Yvonne earlier.
The memory of that moment made Megan’s chest tighten.
When had Aurora ever needed to lower herself for her sake?
If she could, Megan wished Aurora would never have to face anything like that again in her life.
