Thinking about it, Yvonne became genuinely curious about what Joseph was hiding.
What could possibly make him so proud and certain of victory.
“What exactly is it? Can you show me?”
She couldn’t help asking.
But Joseph continued playing coy.
“Relax. When I return home, I’ll show it to you. There’s no need to rush.
“I think it’s far more interesting when a secret is revealed slowly.”
He glanced at her. “Don’t you agree? If everything is exposed at once, where’s the fun in that?”
Hearing that, Yvonne had to admit he had a point, but her curiosity was still burning.
No matter how she pressed him, he refused to show her anything.
In the end, she folded her arms helplessly.
“Fine, since you won’t show me, I’ll just wait and see what kind of treasure you’ve guarded so tightly.”
Joseph explained earnestly, “Like I said, everything needs a touch of mystery. If you keep fixating on what it is right now, the whole thing loses its charm.
“So I want you to be patient instead of getting hung up on it.”
To her own surprise, Yvonne felt he actually made sense.
“Then what do I need to do next?”
Since they had decided to cooperate, they couldn’t behave as casually as before.
If they did, their plan would never move forward, and that would only waste time—something Yvonne found irresponsible and unfair.
After all, they were adults; they should follow through on what they agreed to.
Joseph spoke seriously. “After all, you’re far more familiar with life overseas. This place is practically your second home. Compared to you, I’m nothing special here.”
“That part is true.”
Yvonne lifted her chin proudly.
He wasn’t wrong—she had been living abroad for years.
If she didn’t understand this environment by now, her time here would have been wasted.
“So I need your connections and your network to help me.”
“You’re serious about this?”
“Of course I am.” Joseph didn’t hesitate at all.
“If I didn’t need your help, I could go to someone else. But since we’ve agreed to work together, why not be honest with each other?”
