Arnold shouted out, then immediately regretted it, wondering if he had overstepped his place.
But everything he had done was purely instinctive.
He couldn’t bear to watch Grace fall back into the same trap again.
She had already hurt Aurora once—if she continued down this path, she would only be hurting herself as well.
Everyone experienced confusion in their youth; he understood that much.
But youth was fleeting—once gone, it never returned.
If a person kept living in a dream and refused to face reality, they would never move forward.
With that thought, Arnold looked at Grace with deep concern.
Sean, however, stared at Grace with utter confidence.
“Grace, don’t worry. Once we’re back together, I’ll make sure to discipline this ill-mannered servant of yours.”
As he spoke, he cast a contemptuous glance at Arnold.
“Look at this, it’s because you’re too kind. These servants, especially the housekeeper, have grown bold enough to walk all over you.”
He complained openly, displeased. “They even dare meddle in their employer’s affairs. You choosing to reconcile with me is your own business. I know you still like me.”
“Smack!”
The moment his words fell, Grace’s hand came down hard across his face.
The slap cut him off mid-sentence.
His head snapped to the side, five clear finger marks blooming on his cheek.
The sharp sound silenced everyone else as well.
Arnold, in particular, froze with his mouth open, forgetting everything he had planned to say next.
He had a whole list of words meant to dissuade Grace, but that single slap swallowed them whole.
Even Tessa found it baffling.
At times, she genuinely couldn’t understand where Sean’s confidence came from.
Grace had arrived aggressively, flanked by several bodyguards—could her intentions have been any clearer?
And yet Sean still managed to act like this.
That single move made Tessa begin to question her earlier choice.
Had it been a mistake to work with him in the first place?
Back then, she had wanted to stand against Grace.
She thought she was choosing a partner who was clever and calculating, not someone as reckless and delusional as Sean.
But at the time, she had been bound by blood ties, and by Sean’s repeated promises that he would give her more in return.
