Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 110

Evan tugged at his tie, which suddenly felt too tight. He glanced at Emma's expression, and a wave of anxiety and impatience pounded at his temples.

"What's there to talk about? I'm standing right here. Do you still think I'm joking?"

Emma didn't turn her head or even look at him.

Evan turned away and didn't say another word. He followed Emma into the office.

After they filled out the divorce petition and submitted their documents, the clerk returned their IDs and handed them a receipt.

"Make sure you keep this receipt safe. There is a mandatory 30-day waiting period. After 30 days have passed, you both must return here together to finalize the divorce, understand?" the clerk explained while stamping the paper. "During this time, you should both think things over calmly. If you change your minds, either one of you can withdraw the petition..."

Before the clerk could finish, Evan stood up and walked straight out of the office.

Emma took the receipt, nodded her thanks, and then slowly walked out.

Outside, Evan's car was already gone. Emma wasn't bothered. She took out her phone and called a car to take her to the hospital.

She had her reservations about this mandatory cooling-off period; if she could have finalized it today, she would have. Still, seeing how cooperative Evan had been, Emma was quite satisfied.

St. Aurelia Private Medical Center.

Nathan looked over the results of Emma's latest tests. "The situation looks okay. There's some improvement compared to before. It's minimal, but at least things aren't getting worse."

Emma couldn't help but smile when she heard the news.

It seemed that good news really was the best medicine. All that treatment before hadn't done much, but today, right after filing for divorce, her body was already showing signs of improvement.

Jason didn't dare say another word. He clutched the file and hurried out.

Not a minute after the door closed, it was pushed open again. Daniel peeked his head in first, then strolled into the room, twirling his car keys. "Well now, who went and rattled Mr. Cooper's cage? You're so steamed, someone could boil water on your head!"

Completely ignoring Evan's dark expression, Daniel plopped down on the sofa and casually crossed his legs.

"Wipe that smirk off your face. I'm not in the mood," Evan's voice was as cold as ice.

But Daniel remained his usual playful self. "What are you talking about?" he said with a grin. "Why would I be smirking? It's not like I don't have shares in this company! So, spill. What's got you in such a temper first thing in the morning?"

"Emma got to you again, didn't she?"

Daniel didn't even have to think about it. He could guess it was Emma. The only person who could get the current Evan this worked up was her.
