Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 225

Emma felt like she was fated to spend her life in a hospital.

She had just finished her recovery period, and now she was back on the 15th floor, in the hematology department, to start chemotherapy.

Seeing Nathan again after several days, Emma noticed a small scar on his forehead. She was a little curious but didn't ask about it.

“Is everything taken care of?”

The man, who had been looking down at a medical file, suddenly spoke, his expression unreadable.

Emma was confused and didn’t understand. “...What?”

Nathan closed the file and looked directly at her. “You’ve completely broken things off with him, right?”

Emma wasn't stupid. She knew the “him” he was referring to was Evan.

She hesitated for a moment before nodding.

Nathan’s expression didn't change, showing no discernible reaction. He just said in a deep voice, “Good. I’ve arranged all of your follow-up treatments.”

The unexpected statement left Emma bewildered.

She knew Nathan was probably interested in her, but having just ended a marriage and with her current health situation, she simply couldn’t imagine jumping into a new relationship so quickly.

But then again, sometimes she felt she was overthinking it. While Mr. Allen’s words were sometimes vague and suggestive, he had never actually said or done anything concrete.

Then again, if he had, it might have been better. At least then she could have rejected him directly instead of being stuck in this ambiguous limbo.

Tessa’s coldness made Melissa’s smile freeze. Before she could react, Thomas, still in bed, spoke up indignantly on his daughter’s behalf. “Ignore her! She’s just the help. Why are you offering her an apple? You’re being too good to her!”

Tessa showed no reaction and continued silently with her work.

When she was nearly finished, she wrung out the towel, picked up the basin of dirty water, and walked out. Just as she was closing the door, she glanced back at the father and daughter in the room, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

So she’s some big shot’s mistress. What’s so glorious to be proud of?

With that thought, Tessa pulled the door shut, using a little more force than necessary. A loud bang echoed from the doorway. Thomas, who was eating his apple, glanced over and grumbled, “Can’t you close the door quietly? I’m a patient, you know!”

“Alright, alright, that’s enough, Dad!”

Thankfully, Melissa was more reasonable than Thomas. She glanced at Tessa’s retreating figure before turning back to her father and speaking softly, “Why are you getting so angry?”
