Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 226

“How can I not be angry after the way she just treated you?” Thomas said, his face flushing with anger. “She’s just a caregiver, what’s with the attitude? Every day she gives me that stone-cold face, and when I try to talk to her, she just ignores me. I have no idea where Mr. Cooper found someone like her!”

Speaking of which, Thomas was still displeased. He grumbled, “I really want to replace her! Day in and day out, I swear she has no idea who’s the boss and who’s the hired help!”

“Dad! That’s enough! Just drop it.”

Melissa took out a wet wipe and cleaned her father’s hands after he finished his apple. “She was hired by Mr. Cooper. How can you just decide to replace her on a whim? That’s not how it works.”

Thomas had just been venting. Hearing his daughter say that, he didn’t dare press the issue. Instead, he changed the subject. “So, Melissa, how are things between you and Mr. Cooper now?”

At the mention of this, Melissa’s hand, which had been wiping her father’s, paused. A faint blush rose to her cheeks. “They’re… they’re good. Really good…”

She bit her lip and lowered her head even further.

Seeing her shy demeanor, Thomas knew there was more to the story, but he didn't press for details. He just smiled along with his daughter.

Melissa only stayed at the hospital for an hour or two before leaving. Since the previous week, her visits had become shorter and shorter. Sometimes, she would just pop in, check on her father, and then leave immediately.

Thomas wasn’t upset by this. After all, he had the caregiver, Tessa, whom he could order around. With her there, it didn’t really matter if his daughter was around or not.

Soon, the flashers on a BMW MINI blinked, and Melissa opened the driver’s side door and got in.

A BMW MINI Cooper SE?

Seeing the car Melissa got into, Emma, who was walking behind her, couldn’t help but smirk. It seemed Evan wasn’t being too generous with his new flame. A BMW MINI cost around $430,000.

Compared to the Porsche Panamera GTS 4.0 she used to drive, that BMW wouldn't even cover her final payment.

But while the divorce was final, the division of assets had yet to be settled. The thought of it gave Emma a slight headache.
