Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 664

"Sylvia, what's wrong?" Lester called out softly.

Snapping back, Sylvia set her phone down. "Reese was confirming the time for the bachelorette party with me. She said she prepared a dress for the masquerade ball."

"A masquerade ball? So she really listened to Fay's suggestion," Lester murmured.

"Fay? The masquerade was her idea?" Sylvia asked curiously.

"Yeah. I heard Reese mention it yesterday. She was supposed to attend a famous masquerade abroad, but couldn't go because of her injury. So Fay wanted to help her fulfill that wish before she got married."

At the mention of an injury, Sylvia instinctively glanced at her own hand.

Catching her gaze, Lester immediately offered, "If you don't want to go, I can decline Reese on your behalf."

"It's fine. I already promised her, so I'll go."

Sylvia really didn't want to add any unpleasantness to someone's big day.

Especially since the masquerade involved Fay. Fay might be useless at everything else, but she was an expert at stirring up trouble.

Seeing that she had agreed, Lester didn't press the issue.

A moment later, he took a call. The voice on the other end clearly belonged to a woman, but he claimed it was Zion asking him to handle some business.

Sylvia didn't expose him and simply walked him to the door.

Feeling bored, she tidied up a bit. When she went downstairs to take out the trash, a car parked across the street honked twice.

She looked up, and a woman's face appeared in the rolled-down window.

Sienna.

She slowly stepped out of the car, leaning against the door as she lit a cigarette. "Sylvia, I'm starting to admire you. You knew perfectly well that I was the one who called Lester away, yet you aren't angry in the slightest."

"I trust him," Sylvia replied directly.

"Heh." Sienna scoffed coldly. "Do you trust him, or is it for some other reason?"

"Ms. Rayner, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

Sylvia turned to leave, not expecting Sienna to follow her.

Sienna blocked her path. "The coffee shop at the neighborhood entrance is pretty good. Buy me a cup."

"Ms. Rayner, your outfit alone costs enough to buy a car, and you want me to buy you coffee?"

Sylvia didn't know whether to call her thick-skinned or just plain shameless.
