Only then did Sylvia realize she had been played by Sienna.
She pursed her lips and said coldly, "My business has nothing to do with you. I think you've come to the wrong person."
"I didn't come here to negotiate with you, Sylvia. You should know that you can't beat me."
Sienna toyed with her coffee cup, her dark eyes instantly turning freezing cold.
Sylvia briefly held her breath. For a split second, she thought she was hallucinating, because she had seen that exact same predatory gaze in Rupert's eyes.
In her momentary daze, a waiter approached to serve the dessert that came with their set meal.
Just as the waiter raised his hand, Sienna instinctively flinched away, her expression turning bizarrely defensive.
Even the waiter was startled by her reaction, making it look as though someone had tried to strike her.
Remembering the favor of the flat shoes, Sylvia quickly stood up and blocked Sienna from view.
"Just hand it to me."
The waiter nodded, handed over the dessert, and quickly left.
Sylvia placed the plate in front of Sienna and said gently, "The desserts here are really good. You should try it."
Sienna looked at the sweet treat, then back at Sylvia, a complex smile forming on her lips.
She picked up her spoon, took a bite, and nodded. "It really is quite good."
Sylvia let out a sigh of relief. She was just figuring out how to probe for Sienna's true intentions when, in the very next second, Sienna aggressively mashed the beautifully crafted dessert into a messy pulp.
The strawberry jam splattered across the table like drops of fresh blood.
Yet, she remained entirely expressionless, idly playing with her spoon. "Sylvia, no wonder he cares about you so much."
Sylvia glanced at the mangled, bloody-looking dessert, trying her best to maintain her composure. "You're misunderstanding."
"Am I misunderstanding? Or do you just refuse to believe it?"
"..."
"Sylvia, let me give you a piece of advice. Don't go joining the fun at that bachelorette party. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Sienna stabbed her spoon into the ruined dessert, wiped the jam from her fingertips with a napkin, and stood up to leave with a cold sneer.
Sylvia stared at her departing figure in a daze, completely unable to determine whether the woman was a friend or a foe.
It wasn't until the unique scent of her perfume finally dissipated that she snapped back to reality.
