Chapter 17 A Desperate Plea
Shangri–La did belong to that rich kid, but that was before the apocalypse.
Now, even if the most powerful person in the world showed up, Shangri–La would still belong to her.
Tim and the others looked at each other.
The razor wire fence was electrified. Anyone who set it up clearly wasn’t someone to mess with. But Henry’s condition…
They needed help right now.
The boy’s body was burning with fever. His mind was slipping in and out of consciousness. The wound on his leg was still bleeding. On top of that, they hadn’t eaten anything for two full days. If they didn’t treat the wound soon, he might die.
Just then, Tim looked up. He spotted a security camera hidden in the trees.
The dark lens stared down at them. An uneasy feeling rose in Tim’s chest.
Maybe the person inside was watching them now.
Gritting his teeth, Tim carefully lowered the unconscious teenage boy from his back and laid him on the ground.
Then, before the others could react, he suddenly bowed to the camera.
“Tim!”
“Tim! What are you doing?”
The girl and Dane both shouted in shock.
They rushed forward to pull him up, but Tim waved their hands away. He kept his eyes locked on the camera. His voice stayed calm and steady. “I don’t know who you are. But I know you
can see us.”
Dane and the girl exchanged a complicated look.
The wind blew through the trees. No one answered.
Tim humbled himself even more. “I know our sudden visit has disturbed you,” he said. “But our friend is badly hurt. If his wound isn’t treated soon, he might not survive.” He took a slow breath. “I’m begging you. Please help us. If you save him today, then someday, if you ever need

When the girl saw him begging so humbly, her anger exploded. She rushed forward. “Tim! Why are you begging?” she shouted. “This place belongs to Mr. Henry! That person inside took it while he was not around. They’re the ones in the wrong!”
“Ella,” Dane said quickly, grabbing her arm.
He shook his head.
But Ella had a fiery temper. Her anger only grew stronger. “Sure, the place is surrounded by an electric fence,” she snapped. “But that squatter can’t hide forever! There has to be a gate. There has to be an opening somewhere! Give me a few minutes. I could even dig a tunnel under it! Why should we beg like this?!”
“Ella!”
Dane’s voice suddenly turned cold. “Don’t you understand? Things aren’t the same anymore.”
Robin suddenly froze in the underground control room. Her eyes fixed on the hot–tempered, dark–skinned girl on the screen.
Wait! Ella Chapman?
Could it really be the woman who ranked fourth on the global combat power list in Robin’s previous life? The one people called Lady Hercules?
Robin studied the girl closely. In her past life, she had never met that legendary fighter face–to- face. But she had heard many stories about her.
Before the apocalypse, Ella had only been a normal college athlete. Her ability had awakened very early after the disaster began, and the story of how it happened sounded almost unbelievable. People said that one night, not long after the apocalypse started, Ella dreamed about Hercules. In the dream, Hercules told her he would pass his strength on to her. When she woke up, she really did have incredible power.
Robin replayed the scene she had just seen. The moment the girl noticed the razor wire, she reached out toward it. She clearly planned to tear it apart with her bare hands.
That meant she had powers, just like the young man with her.
If the razor wire hadn’t been electrified and her teammate hadn’t stopped her…
Then if she truly was that famous Ella, she might really have torn open Robin’s first line of defense.
Someone that powerful only had two possible endings. Either she became Robin’s ally. Or she

became a corpse.
Thinking about it, Robin’s eyes began to sparkle with excitement.

Outside the gate, Tim’s face slowly filled with despair when no reply came.
Ella lost patience first. She shook Dane’s hand off and bent down, ready to dig under the fence.
“So what if things have changed?” she shouted angrily. “All I know is Mr. Henry is dying! He got hurt while trying to help us! And this place used to belong to him! I’m going to save him. Once I dig through this fence, whoever’s inside better move out!”
“Go ahead and try.”
A woman’s voice suddenly spoke.
A woman?
Ella froze in place. Dane blinked in surprise. Tim reacted the fastest. The moment he realized the voice came from the camera above them, he immediately bent down and gave a deep bow.
The young woman’s voice had surprised all of them. But at a moment like this, pride didn’t
matter.
“The girl is young and quick–tempered. Please don’t take her words seriously,” Tim said quickly. “I only ask that you help Mr. Henry. None of the four of us have been scratched or bitten by zombies. We’re not infected, and we’re definitely not carrying the virus.”
Tim clearly knew how to speak at the right moment. He went straight to the most important point. Not once did he mention who Shangri–La originally belonged to. Because he understood one simple truth. Right now, the villa didn’t matter anymore. Henry’s life now lay completely in the hands of whoever was inside.
