Chapter 239 No Free Ride

Robin couldn’t help but complain. “I haven’t even showered these past two days. I need to go wash up. I suddenly feel gross all over
“Then you guys go shower first. I’ll go prepare some food.” Jessica said quickly.
The group finally entered the villa. The bright and clean environment…
Ivan fell silent.
It had been a long time since he had seen anything like this.
“Oh, a newcomer?”
&
Henry happened to be coming downstairs. He looked Ivan over with a critical eye, then turned to Robin with dissatisfaction. “Did you forget this is technically my place? The least you could do when bringing someone back is let me know. Where did you pick up this vagrant? He looks pretty filthy.”
Robin let out a light scoff. “It’s only been a few days and you’re already asking for trouble again? How’s your training been? If I find out later you haven’t improved, just wait until I deal with you.”
Henry’s expression stiffened, but he still talked back. “I haven’t slacked off for a second. If you don’t believe me, ask Tim!”
“Whether you slacked off or not, we’ll find out soon enough.”
Robin glanced at him. “This is Ivan. Take him to shower, and find him some clean clothes to change into.”
“Yeah, he definitely needs a shower. And a haircut too.
Henry nodded in agreement. “Come with me.”
Ivan instinctively followed behind him. Only when the shower started running with clean water did he finally voice his shock. “You… you guys actually shower?”
Isn’t that way too wasteful?
“Not ‘we, you.”
Henry said, his tone softening a bit. “Since Robin brought you back, it means you must have something special about you. She doesn’t make bad investments, and her judgment is rarely wrong. But I’ll say this upfront. No matter what kind of ability you have, there’s one rule here. You absolutely cannot betray us. Like you’ve seen, everything we have now is because of her. I don’t always get along with her, but no matter what, we’re on the same side.”
Ivan paused, then quickly said, “Of course! Robin saved my life. How could I ever betray her?”
“Good.”
Henry gave him a long look. “Now shower. You look terrible.”

Chapter 225 ten feet mate

Robin and the others returning, Shangri-La berame lively again.
But Robin didn’t see Monica.
“Where’s Monica?”
Tim sighed. “That girl is just too competitive. While you were gone these past two days, she went out before sunrise almost every day and didn’t come back until night. She’s probably still out there killing zombies right now.”
“I see…”
Robin fell silent for a moment.
Monica was really pushing herself.
Almost to an unhealthy degree.
This girl might not be as simple as she appeared on the surface.
t
Robin thought it over carefully and decided that when Monica came back tonight, she would have a proper talk with her.
In the apocalypse, it was necessary to push hard, but not to the point of destroying your own body.
No matter what, there had to be limits.
Monica’s talent and personality were both extremely rare. Robin didn’t want someone with so much potential to end up getting hurt.
Everyone sat down and had a meal together. Ivan was practically crying as he ate.
He couldn’t even remember how long it had been since he last had a proper meal like this.
Back at Redwood Military Base, in Outerville, he could only get one piece of bread and a bowl of soup each day. Even with such little food, he had to constantly stay on guard to keep others from stealing it.
After his ability was exposed, he had been even more excluded by the residents there. His life had only gotten worse.
Now, sitting in front of a table full of food, Ivan felt like he was in a dream.
For a moment, he even had a strange illusion. He felt like the little match girl, seeing delicious food after lighting a match. Once the match burned out, her life would end.
But this wasn’t an illusion.
And he wasn’t the little match girl.
At his most desperate moment, he had truly met someone who saved him.
“Why are you crying while eating?”

him some food. Tat slowly. Your stomach won’t handle it if you rush”
Ivan’s hair had clearly gesag uncut for a long time, and his body hack been covered in dirt before. No one could really see what he looked like.
Now that he had showered, everyone realized he was actually a pretty good-looking boy.
He had monolid eyes, a high nose bridge, and a sharp jawline. He was just too thin, clearly from long-term malnutrition.
“What are you crying for? It’s just a meal. I’m not feeding you for free”,
Robin glanced at him. “Jessica, the vegetable patch in the back should be ready for harvest again, right? Let him go help out.”
Jessica quickly said, “Yeah, the new batch of peppers and tomatoes has already grown. I was just thinking of picking them these next few days. Now that Ivan’s here, that makes things easier for me.”
