Chapter 397 Upgrade
“Robin…”
Ella’s eyes were red, her tears on the verge of falling.
Compared to Robin, she had known Dane longer–much longer.
They had supported each other all this way. Deep down, they had always known that in a world like this, death could come at any moment.
But now that the moment had actually arrived, they still couldn’t just stand by and watch a friend turn into a zombie.
Seeing Robin approach, Dane clutched his chest and forced out a weak smile. “R–Robin…
“Thank you… for taking care of me all this time… I know that at the beginning, you weren’t exactly nice to us… but you’re actually a good person… you’re just bad with words…
“I… I don’t think I ever properly thanked you, right? Thank you… If it weren’t for you saving us back then, we probably would’ve died long ago. But because of you, I’ve made it this far, and honestly, I’m already satisfied…”
“Mr. Henry… Ella…”
Dane turned to look at Ella and Henry. He was struggling to breathe now. “Having friends like you in this life… is enough for me…
“Mr. Henry… they all said before that you felt inferior because of your ability… but you don’t know this-
most inferior. out of all of us, I’m actually the one who felt the
“Ella was the first among us to awaken an ability… and hers comes from Hercules… it’s incredibly powerful…
“And you, Mr Henry… you always think your ability is useless, but it’s detonation… Dylan even said before that your power has huge potential…
“As for Robin… I don’t even need to say it. She’s basically a monster. Compared to all of you… even though my lightning ability is strong, I’m the weak one…”
His voice grew fainter, but a blood–red tint slowly crept into his eyes.
Dark veins also began to crawl up his neck. The zombie virus was taking hold.
“Stop talking!”
Ella broke down in tears.
Henry bit down hard on his lip, saying nothing.
The person in front of them was about to turn into a zombie.

And yet, strangely, they felt no fear–only pain.
Dane squeezed his eyes shut, forcing back the madness clawing at his mind. When he opened them again. there was only desperation. “Robin… I… I can’t hold on much longer. Kill me. Please, kill me!
“I don’t want to become that kind of monster: I don’t want to hurt you… Don’t hesitate. Do it now!!!
His voice was hoarse and filled with despair, a final plea.
“Dane! Dane!”
Ella cried out uncontrollably, while veins bulged at Henry’s temples. The atmosphere grew unbearably heavy.
“Quit the damn dramatics.”
Robin grabbed a broken chair leg and shoved it into his mouth, annoyed. “Bite down and endure it!”
“Mmph?”
Everyone stared at her in shock, unable to understand what she was doing.
Even Dane himself was confused.
Robin reached out and tore a pendant from his neck.
Seeing it, Henry froze.
Each of them had one.
Robin had given them these pendants when they first joined Shangri–La.
They were Immunity Pendants that were capable of blocking two fatal attacks and intercepting the virus from zombies below Level 3 once.
Was Robin planning to save Dane with it?
But…
The zombie that injured him was Level 5!

Even if it could block fatal damage, the virus had already begun attacking his brain. He would still turn, and he would do it fully conscious.
“I’m glad you all protected yourselves well.”
Robin held the pendant in her hand as a faint glow spread across her palm.
