Chapter 399 The Violet Reaper

All this time, she had never exchanged for it, as the cost of that gray fog had simply been too high.
But now that her points had exceeded 100 thousand, it was finally time to see what was hidden inside!
“Confirm exchange?”
“Yes,” Robin said.
“Request received. Points deducted. Unlocking system shop…”
As the system’s mechanical chime echoed, the gray fog in the window slowly began to disperse.

Robin couldn’t help but feel a flicker of tension. This thing had cost 10 thousand points.
If what came out wasn’t worth it, she really might tear the system apart.
As if sensing her thoughts, the system chimed again, “Please remain calm, Host. Do not act impulsively.”
The fog finally cleared.
At the same time, a strange sensation rose within Robin. It felt as though something in this world had formed a faint, intangible connection with her…
Rumble!
At that moment, the Level 5 zombie had been pushed to its limit. One of its shoulders was completely shattered, its arm hanging limp, but without pain and with its monstrous vitality, it only grew more ferocious.
And just then, after holding on for so long, Winter’s energy finally began to give out.

The footprints were almost upon them!
Winter stood firm, ready to die.
But in the final instant, a shadow swept past him, trailing a long arc of violet light.
Graceful, yet profound.
Robin made a simple upward motion.
The scythe traced a clean arc through the air, and then, a faint sound followed.
In the next second, before anyone could react, a head appeared out of nowhere. It hit the ground and rolled.
A zombie’s head.
Its face was horribly decayed, teeth and torn flesh exposed in a grotesque grin. Its pale gray eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.
With its ability gone, the rest of its body appeared as well, collapsing heavily to the floor.
Its limbs still twitched faintly, a final sign of a Level 5 zombie’s resilience.
Winter had thought he was dead for sure.
But once again, Robin had turned the tide.
“W-What…”
Monica covered her mouth, unable to believe her eyes.
Did this head belong to the invisible zombie?
Was it really over just like that?
