The armored vehicle had barely come to a halt before the man sprinted forward and dropped to his knees.
The movement was so sudden that everyone was caught off guard.
“Uh… sir, what are you doing?” Klay asked.
The man looked to be in his 30s. His appearance was ordinary, but he knelt perfectly straight on the ground, his eyes red with emotion. “Please… Please save my wife and child!”
“We don’t even know you.” Dylan frowned. “We’re in a hurry. We’re not looking to get involved in other people’s problems.”
But the man stubbornly remained kneeling in front of them. “If you won’t help me, then I’m not getting up. If my wife and child can’t survive, then I don’t want to live either. You can just run me over.”
Robin’s patience snapped. “You really think we wouldn’t If you’ve got any backbone at all, figure something out yourself instead of trying to guilt–trip strangers. We’re unrelated. Why should we help someone we’ve never met before?”
The man’s voice trembled with grief. “I have no other choice! There was a massive collapse where my wife and child were trapped. My ability is unusual, so I managed to escape by myself, but they’re buried far too deep. I can’t reach them. I’ve been waiting here for a long time. You’re the only people who’ve passed through. Please, just show some mercy. If you help me, I’ll do anything you ask!”
Suddenly, his eyes lit up. He frantically rummaged through his tattered backpack. “I have this!”
Sensing a faint fluctuation of ability energy, Robin’s eyes narrowed. “What’s that?”
The man answered honestly, “I don’t know. I found it near the place where my wife and child were buried. I just know it’s something extraordinary. Please help me. I’ll give it to you!”
As he spoke, he unwrapped the cloth around the object.
The moment Robin saw what was inside, her breathing quickened.
She had seen this thing in her previous life.
There had been rumors that it was a meteorite fragment containing an unimaginably powerful energy source. A single piece could power the entire energy grid of a county–sized region.
In her previous life, those fragments hadn’t appeared until three years into the apocalypse. The moment they surfaced, every major faction fought desperately to obtain them. Some bases even established special teams just to search for the fragments.
And if there was one fragment, there had to be more!
Looking at the worn–out middle–aged man before her, a thought suddenly struck Robin. “Wait. What’s your
name?”
He answered honestly. “My name is Sevyn Collier.”
Robin silently sucked in a breath.

In her previous life, Sevyn had built a massive energy group with meteorite fragments and risen straight to the top.
Even up until the day Robin had been betrayed and killed by that cheating couple, Sevyn’s energy group had still been thriving.
His life story was legendary. Although his ability had very little offensive power, he was unbelievably fast. His escape skills were practically unmatched.
Countless bases had coveted the meteorite fragments in his possession, yet none of them could even touch the corner of his clothing. In the end, he had met numerous powerful individuals while constantly running for his life. And because he was willing to risk everything when it mattered, those powerhouses eventually came to admire him sincerely and willingly became his bodyguards.
Robin never expected to run into him here.
More importantly, the meteorite fragment in his hands represented the future of Earth’s energy industry.
