Chapter 61 Big Win

Robin gave the dashboard a quick check and found that everything looked fine. Even the key was still in the ignition. That meant the truck could still run.
“Ella,” Robin called out.
Ella popped her head out from a pile of packages. “What’s up?”
“Think you can flip this truck back over?”
Ella clicked her tongue. “Not sure, but I can try.”
A truck alone was already heavy. And now it was loaded with cargo.
“All right. Dane, Tim–come help too.”
Ella took the front. Robin went to the back. Dane and Tim spread out along the middle. The four of them worked together–and somehow, they actually lifted the overturned truck.
“Push, now!” Ella shouted excitedly.
They gave it everything they had. With a loud thud, the ground even seemed to shake a little. The truck finally landed upright again.
“That’s awesome! Now we can take all these supplies back in one trip!” Ella said, beaming.
Robin walked to the back and took a look. The others had already opened about one–third of the packages. Most of them were clothes, shoes, snacks–very little actual food.
But that made sense. People still preferred buying food in stores.
The four of them kept opening packages for nearly two hours. After tossing out the useless stuff, they still had about two–thirds of the truck left.
This haul was a big win.
“Tim, can you drive a truck?” Robin asked.
Tim hesitated. “It’s been a while, but I can try.”
“All right.”
Robin stepped aside. Tim climbed into the driver’s seat. He got familiar with the controls first. Then, as he pressed one of the buttons, a burst of static suddenly filled the cabin.
“What is…”
Before anyone could react, a voice came through. “This is Redwood Military Base. This is Redwood Military Base! Attention to all residents in the Klam area and nearby regions–if you hear this broadcast, please come here for shelter immediately! We provide housing and food. Please come immediately!”

The message repeated over and over. It turned out Tim had accidentally turned on the truck’s radio.
Two months into the apocalypse, they were finally hearing news from the outside world.
The air went quiet. None of them spoke, but everyone could feel the shock–and the excitement.
“A military base…” Dane said, his voice shaking with emotion. “The government is finally doing something…”
It had been over a month. They had all thought the country had abandoned them. And now, hearing this message made people want to cry.
But unlike the others, Robin’s expression stayed calm after her initial surprise.
Redwood Military Base had been one of the five major bases in her past life.
Back then, she had heard this same broadcast and followed other survivors there without hesitation.
But…
A trace of coldness flashed in her eyes, as if remembering something unpleasant. “Do you want to go to Redwood Military Base?” she asked lightly.
The question caught the others off guard. “Robin, you’re not going?” Ella asked right away.
Only after asking did she realize–Robin didn’t really need anyone else.
She could survive just fine on her own.
Dane and Tim also calmed down after the initial excitement. They exchanged awkward looks.
Even though they had lived comfortably at their base for over a month, old habits still made them trust the government and the military.
But now, facing Robin’s calm gaze, they felt a little embarrassed.
“Robin, we didn’t mean it like that…” Tim tried to explain.
Robin raised a hand, stopping him. “I get it. If you really want to go, I won’t stop you. But let me be clear- if you leave, don’t come back. I don’t take in trash.”
“No, Robin! That’s not what I meant!” Ella shook her head quickly. “I was just asking! I’m the housekeeper at our place. If I leave, what will you do? Who’s going to bathe Princess Ruby?”
She crossed her arms and huffed. “I’m not going to some crappy base. Don’t even think about kicking me
