Chapter 92 First Hunt Together

For a long time, Jerome and the others had only been running from zombies. This was the first time they were taking the fight to them. They couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“You killed zombies yesterday,” Robin said, standing in front of them, her voice calm but firm. “So you should understand by now; they’re not as scary as you think. Especially these low–level ones. Move fast strike hard, and they can barely fight back.”
She paused, then added, “And I’m not leading you for nothing. I’ll be keeping track of how many zombies each of you kills today. So, don’t even think about slacking off. Whoever kills the most gets to eat their fill.”
Eat their fill?!
Those three words hit Jerome and the others like a shock.
Before, they never really cared about food. But after starving for over a month, they finally understood what it meant to be hungry. People need food to live. Skip a meal, and your whole body feels it.
Especially after having a proper meal that morning, their stomachs were already craving more.
“Ella,” Robin said, turning to her.
Ella straightened right away. “Yes!”

Ella lifted her chin. “Understood!”
“Oh, and one more thing.” Robin’s expression turned serious. “The zombies we’ve seen so lowest level. But humans are evolving and so are the zombies.

lowest–level ones are weak. Easy to deal with. But Level 2 zombies have already started showing
when they become a real threat.

“They’re faster. Tougher. More aggressive. I don’t know if there are any in this building, but you all need to be careful.”
Jerome and the others hadn’t even gotten used to the regular zombies yet. Hearing about Level 2 zombies made them suck in a sharp breath.
“Still,” Robin added, “don’t be afraid of them. There will be even stronger ones in the future. If you’re going to be scared, save it for later.”
Jerome and the others fell silent.
Ella let out a dry laugh. “Robin, you’re really great at comforting people.”
Robin didn’t smile.
She wasn’t joking.

Zombies would only get stronger over time. In the late stages, some of them would even develop intelligence. Some would gain all kinds of strange abilities.

The scariest part? Some could disguise themselves as humans. Their looks, their behavior–everything would seem normal. You wouldn’t notice anything wrong. But deep down, they still craved human flesh and
blood.
Robin didn’t say any of this. It was too early. These people weren’t ready to hear it.
The top floor used to be the busiest place in the building. It was the food court, packed with all sorts of popular restaurants. But now, it was dead silent.
In the hallway, Jerome and the others held their weapons tight. They carefully peeked around the corner.
The moment Jerome stuck his head out, he came face–to–face with a zombie.
“Ahh!”
He screamed without thinking. His hand moved on instinct, and he swung his weapon straight
Bang!
The zombie was knocked to the side. But the noise drew attention. More and more
toward them.
ombies started coming
There weren’t that many on this floor. Robin took a quick look–less than thirty. But for the five of them, that was still a lot.
“Why are you screaming?!” Steven kicked a zombie away and snapped at Jerome. “Don’t you know they can hear?”
Jerome knew he was in the wrong, but he still argued back. “I didn’t expect it to be right there! That disgusting face just popped up in front of me! If it were you, you wouldn’t scream?!”
Trav couldn’t take it anymore. “Can you two stop arguing? You just said they can hear, right? Then what do you think you’re doing now–inviting them over?!”
The two glared at each other, but they finally shut up.
Robin watched them coldly. She didn’t step in to stop them.
Early conflicts were normal. They needed time to adjust to each other. This was actually a good chance. It also helped her see their personalities more clearly..
After arguing and fighting on their own at first, they slowly began to work together. Their teamwork improved. And the time it took to kill each zombie kept getting shorter.
