Chapter 651
Rebecca ended up getting cornered by Jethro outside the dance studio forced to en
of him bellowing explanations at her.
By the time he finally ran out of steam, she was still in a daze.
“Do you get it now?” Jethro’s voice was hoarse, his throat nearly on fire.
Rebecca frowned. “Why are you yelling about something this simple?”
“If it’s so simple, why didn’t you answer a single question?” he growled. “The whole sheet is blank
“Why should I do it just because you tell me to?” she shot back. “This is ridiculous.”
*It’s not me. Vance told me to do this!” he said firmly, not taking no for an answS,
Rebecca found the whole situation even more absurd. “He’s your boss, not mine!*
She shoved the test papers back into his hands. “I don’t need tutoring. Thanks anyway.”
“Hey! Wait!” Jethro shouted after her as she walked away.
She ignored him and kept going. Jethro mistook her action for her plea to have Vance tutor her in person. That wouldn’t do. Vance was far too busy right now.
He wouldn’t be a worthy friend if he couldn’t help lighten the load. He spent the whole night reflecting on why Rebecca had rejected his help, then concluded that he had probably been too aggressive.
The next day, Jethro showed up outside the dance studio again, this time with a French worksheet and a cup of bubble tea.
Rebecca tried to flee at the sight of him, but he practically shoved the tea into her face. Bubble tea back then was still made with non–dairy creamer, but it tasted good–a nostalgic flavor of the era.
He handed her the worksheet, his attitude much gentler this time. “Please, just do this set for me. Otherwise, I don’t know how to explain it to Vance.”
He looked genuinely pleading.
Rebecca sipped the bubble tea. Since she had already accepted the drink, refusing felt awkward. She picked up the pen, took another sip, and started working through the questions.
He watched from the side. His expression shifted from relief to wide–eyed astonishment and then complete disbelief. His mouth hung open wide enough to fit an egg.
When she finished, she shoved the papers back into his hands. “It’s done, but seriously, don’t come tutor me anymore.”
