The police officers filed in, their presence heavy and final. At their head, Nova Corp’s private legal counsel, a sharp-eyed woman named Marissa, stepped forward with a folder in hand.
Ethan’s voice cut through the stunned silence. “Maxime Trent, you are suspected of embezzling over fifty million dollars from company assets.”
Maxime’s face fell, shock and despair flooding his features. “That’s impossible… I didn’t-”
Ethan raised a hand, stopping him cold. “The financial audit shows clear evidence. Transfers through multiple accounts, disguised as legitimate expenses. The amount matches exactly what’s missing.”
Marissa nodded solemnly. “Mr. Trent, you are now under formal investigation. We will be pressing charges. You have the right to remain silent.”
Maxime was utterly crushed. He had indeed diverted company funds, and the amount was accurate. The fight drained from his body; he sank further onto the floor, utterly defeated. Ethan had clearly planned this moment all along to send him to court, to end this rebellion once and for all.

Grayman whispered hoarsely, “So it was true…”
Hendricks shook his head, pale. Bernard looked away, silent.
Ethan turned to the remaining board members. “This rebellion ends here. Nova Corp stands united. The Morgan family’s crisis is over.”

He pulled out his phone, ready to call Alice with the good news.
But the call wouldn’t connect. The line was dead.
Frowning, Ethan muttered, “No signal… I’ll go to the Morgan estate myself.’

Belen had just spread the news that Nova Corp was ending its partnership with the Morgan family, and now everyone pressed in on Alice, demanding answers.
Belen, standing with a smug grin, was the center of the storm. “Did you hear? Nova Corp is ending its partnership with us. Just like that! And it’s all because of you!” His voice was sharp, cutting through the murmurs like a blade.
Alice’s breath hitched. “I didn’t-”
“Don’t lie to us!” Eleanor snapped, stepping forward, eyes blazing. “How could you bring in that-that

Ethan Storm? We all warned you. We said you should trust no one without a proven background, and now look where we are!”
One of her uncles, eyes sharp and unforgiving, stepped forward. “How could you let this happen, Alice? We warned you!”
Her father, Lawrence, slammed his fist hard on the polished oak table, the sound echoing through the grand hall. “Explain yourself! The board is falling apart because of you.”
From the side, her grandmother sat stiffly, her gaze heavy with disappointment, while her uncle, stern and silent, watched her like a hawk, waiting for her to crack.
Alice felt the weight of their stares crushing her. Overwhelmed, hopeless, she could barely breathe.
Then Belen, with that smug grin still plastered on his face, cut through the silence. “John Perez, the young master of the Perez family, is coming back from the capital soon. If we can get him to marry Alice, everything will be solved. Their wealth, their influence-unmatched.”
