Even in Darkness She Chose to Rise (Tatiana and Jasper) novel Chapter 211

**Chapter 211: Family Drama**

“Jasper.”

“Who?”

“Ask your father.”

Once the call ended, Owen, still feeling a twinge of skepticism, wasted no time in dialing his dad’s number. “Dad, can I ask you something? Do you happen to know a guy named Jasper?”

The response came swiftly, almost as if it were a reflex: “How do you know that name?”

“Just curious. Is this guy someone powerful?”

“Did you provoke him?”

Owen wasn’t naive; he understood the weight of his father’s tone. He chose not to admit anything. “No, no! A friend was just asking. Is he someone we should worry about offending?”

His father’s reply was succinct yet loaded with meaning: “Worship him.”

Owen felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly redialed Tatiana, his heart racing. “Help! Is there any hope for me?”

“Get rid of that phone number immediately. Pretend like you know nothing about this. I’ll figure something out,” Tatiana advised, her voice steady despite the urgency of the situation.

“You’re my lifesaver! Didn’t you say you wanted those Emerald Crafts items? I’ll send you several large boxes as a thank-you gift for saving my life!” Owen exclaimed, desperation lacing his words.

Tatiana hesitated; she hadn’t wanted to get entangled with Jasper again. But recognizing that Owen had inadvertently provoked him because of her, she felt an obligation to assist. She couldn’t just turn her back on him now.

Unbeknownst to both of them, Owen’s file had already made its way to Jasper.

Jasper meticulously examined the document, his brow furrowing as he read. It was clear that there had been a misunderstanding; they were merely college acquaintances, not romantically involved. Yet, the fact remained that Owen had pursued Tatiana, and their friendship only blossomed after she had turned him down.

Friends. The word left a bitter taste in his mouth. The thought of Owen chasing after Tatiana ignited a surge of anger within him.

He found himself reaching for the drawer, pulling out an unlabeled bottle of pills, and dry-swallowing several of them in quick succession.

The medication acted swiftly, dulling the throbbing headache and the simmering rage that threatened to consume him.

A meeting of such urgency? Tatiana’s instincts kicked in, and she suspected she knew the reason behind it.

As she had anticipated, the assistant continued, “This meeting is to finalize the lead single and the promotional strategy for the album. The company is eager to push this album hard and also introduce the original composer.”

It was painfully obvious who that composer was. Given the scandal surrounding Bianca and Harpie, it was hardly surprising that Harpie would seek to elevate Bianca’s status.

Over the past few days, Tatiana had taken it upon herself to delve into Harpie’s background. To her astonishment, she discovered that Barry, who had always appeared so reserved, had an illegitimate son—one who was only a year younger than Jasper—kept hidden away for years. No wonder Harpie bore a striking resemblance to Jasper; they were half-brothers.

Gordon had never publicly acknowledged Harpie. Typically, a child born out of wedlock would be kept out of the spotlight. However, three years ago, when Jasper had fallen gravely ill and lay in a coma, the news had leaked, sending shockwaves through the Jackson family. Enemies lurked in the shadows, waiting for Jasper to pass so they could seize control of the family’s assets, which were now heirless.

In a desperate bid, Barry had stepped forward, urging Gordon to recognize Harpie. Both had faced the wrath of the patriarch and were thrown out, yet the act was a semi-acknowledgment. Gordon needed a figurehead to quell the unrest that had begun to brew.

During the month that Jasper lay unconscious, Harpie had stepped into his shoes, briefly taking the reins at Jackson Corp and earning the title of Vice President. But that reign was short-lived; when Jasper awoke, he was a force to be reckoned with. He showed no mercy, not even to his own father, confiscating all the assets Barry had secretly amassed for Harpie over the years.

Barry had protested vehemently, even threatening disownment, but ultimately, he was stripped of his shares in the Jackson family. If Barry couldn’t stand against Jasper, then Harpie didn’t stand a chance. Thus, Harpie was pushed into the entertainment industry, a world he had never intended to enter.

How did Tatiana come to learn all of this? She had stumbled upon a detailed online post that chronicled the tumultuous internal struggles of the Jackson family, and it had painted a vivid picture of their complicated dynamics.
