Harpie indeed had a sleepless night, throwing a massive tantrum. This was a direct slap in the
face!
“You have to bury it! No matter the cost! Stop them from promoting it!” He was furious, even resorting to using Jackson family connections. Barry, doting on him, stepped in to help, but overestimated his own influence. Most industry insiders remained indifferent.
Upon further inquiry, someone tactfully reminded him, “Mr. Jackson doesn’t approve.”
Barry stormed back home.
“Jasper, you can ignore your brother’s affairs, but you can’t go too far!”
Jasper, enjoying a rare meal with Hubert, didn’t even spare him a glance, placing a piece of fish in Hubert’s bowl.
The little boy wrinkled his nose at the fish. “Daddy, I don’t want fish.”
“Ann called you stupid.”
“I’m not stupid!”
“Eating fish makes you smart.”
“Really…” After some internal struggle, Hubert overcame his aversion and swallowed the fish almost whole. Luckily, it was boneless.
The father and son ate peacefully, completely ignoring the fuming Barry.
“Jasper!”
“You’re too loud.”
“I am your father!”
Jasper finally put down his fork and slowly looked up. His icy gaze made Barry’s bravado instantly wither.
“I know you don’t like Harpie. I haven’t let him near you. He won’t touch the company business. He just wants to sing. Can’t you even allow him that?”
Jasper scoffed. “Are you ordering me?”
Barry’s anger flared again. This attitude! This condescending arrogance! As if they weren’t father and

son, but master and servant! In this house, he never had the dignity of a father!
“Jasper, I don’t care what you think today. I will see Harpie’s matter through. It’s his only passion. As his older brother, you must support him!”
His face turned cold. “Is he even worthy of comparison to me?”

Hubert also put down his spoon, tilting his head. “Grandpa, you’re weird,” he said in his childish voice. “Isn’t Daddy your son? Why do you only help the other one? So unfair!”
Being called out by a child made Barry’s face flush. “What does a child know!” he snapped. “That’s your uncle! Show some respect!”
Hubert huffed. “I don’t have an uncle!”
“You…”
“Say one more word against him! Hubert is your grandson! How dare you yell at him for that piece of trash outside?” Gordon’s voice cut in.
Barry immediately backtracked, forcing a smile. “Dad, I didn’t mean it like that, but Harpie…”
“Don’t mention that unlucky thing.”
Barry didn’t dare push back against his own father and shut his mouth meekly.
“Great–Grandpa! You’re here!” The little boy jumped down and ran into Gordon’s arms, his eyes shining, melting the old man’s heart.
“Ah, my dear great–grandson. Have you been eating well lately? Let me see if you’ve put on weight.”
“Yes! I ate lots!”
Jasper ruthlessly exposed him. “Picky eater.”
The little boy’s puffed–out chest deflated. “No, I’m not. I ate…” he mumbled guiltily.
Gordon glared at Jasper. “Why are you blaming him? So what if he’s picky? It’s not like we can’t afford it. You have the nerve to blame Hubert? How many chefs have quit because of your
mouth?”
Four generations together should have been a warm scene, but Barry felt like an outsider, completely voiceless in the Jackson family, growing increasingly bitter.
“Dad, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.” Gordon didn’t respond. Barry left dejectedly.

After he was gone, the old man remarked cryptically, “That thing outside has a dirty heart. Even stirring up his old man to cause trouble.” Every stray cat thinks they deserve a piece of the pie.
Jasper wiped his hands, then picked Hubert up and handed him to a nearby bodyguard. “Take him to play.” The little boy, smart as he was, knew his daddy and great–grandpa needed to talk and went quietly.
Gordon’s kind expression turned serious. He sat down and got straight to the point. “Among the recent returnees, there’s someone you need to watch out for.”
“Soren?”
Gordon looked slightly surprised. “You know?”
“I’ve looked into it.”
Gordon grew nostalgic. “She’s quite a figure. An old acquaintance of mine. Of those who went abroad to study back then, she was the only one who stayed. Built quite an empire over the years.”
Jasper listened quietly as Gordon reminisced, but his mind was on the girl he had seen at the restaurant, the one accompanying Soren, who looked startlingly like Tatiana used to. Her name was Emily, an orphan raised by Soren.
