Even in Darkness She Chose to Rise (Tatiana and Jasper) novel Chapter 267

**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**
**Chapter 267: We’re Going Home**

“Come on, we need to go. We’re heading to the hospital,” Tatiana urged, her voice a mix of urgency and determination.

“Okay,” Jasper replied, his tone steady as he focused on the road ahead.

As they drove through the bustling streets, Tatiana felt a knot of anxiety tightening in her stomach. The hospital loomed ahead, a stark reminder of the chaos that had enveloped their lives recently. Upon reaching their destination, they made their way directly to the top floor. The atmosphere was eerily quiet, the expansive area nearly deserted, save for the numerous bodyguards stationed at strategic points, their vigilant eyes scanning for any signs of trouble.

Tatiana’s heart raced. The thought of Ann alone in that hospital room fueled her frantic energy. She couldn’t find peace until she laid eyes on her daughter, the small, soft bundle that had become the center of her universe. As she approached the glass partition, her breath caught in her throat.

There she was—Ann, wide awake, perched on the edge of her hospital bed, her little feet swinging back and forth like a pendulum. It was as if she had sensed her mother’s presence, for in that moment, she turned her head, her face lighting up with an infectious smile. “Mommy!” she exclaimed, her voice ringing with joy.

Without a second thought, Ann leaped off the bed, her tiny feet pattering on the floor, completely disregarding her shoes as she dashed toward the door.

Tatiana wasted no time and rushed inside, her heart swelling with relief as she scooped Ann into her arms. The heavy weight that had settled in her chest for days finally began to dissipate.

“Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!” Ann squealed, her excitement spilling over as tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Ann!” Tatiana replied, her voice thick with emotion, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Ann’s little face was a canvas of sorrow and joy intertwined. “Mommy,” she sobbed, “I missed you so much!”

Tatiana’s heart ached at the sight of her daughter in distress. “I missed you too, sweetheart,” she whispered, her voice trembling with love.

At a distance, Jasper observed the reunion, a gentle expression softening his features as he took in the sight of the two.

Once the initial wave of emotion subsided, Tatiana gently released Ann, her maternal instincts taking over as she began to inspect her daughter for any signs of harm. Only when she was assured that Ann was unharmed did she let out a sigh of relief. “Ann, have you been okay these past few days?”

Ann furrowed her brow, her little mind processing the question. She shook her head, then nodded, confusion dancing in her eyes. “Mommy, I was sleeping the whole time. I don’t remember anything.”

Jasper stepped closer, his voice steady and informative. “She was kept sedated. There are no visible injuries, but the anesthetic had a potent effect on her. We’ll need to keep an eye on her for a while.”

Tatiana’s heart sank at the implications. “What kind of effects can we expect?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“None have presented themselves thus far,” he reassured her, though the concern in his eyes mirrored her own.

“Ann…” Tatiana began, searching her daughter’s face for any signs of distress.

Ann blinked up at her, an innocent look in her eyes that seemed far wiser than her years. “Mommy, I’m fine. No side effects. I’m very healthy! Mr. Jackson rescued me,” she declared proudly.

Jasper knelt down to Ann’s level, his expression shifting to one of seriousness. “No, I’m very sorry. It was because of me that you were in danger.”

A frown creased Ann’s small face, confusion etching deeper lines in her brow. “Why?”

Before Jasper could respond, Tatiana interjected sharply, her protective instincts flaring. “There is no why! It was an accident! He’s lying to you!”

Jasper’s gaze fell, understanding the weight of her words.

“Our apologies for the interruption. We can wait until you’ve settled your affairs to conduct our routine questioning,” the woman said, her tone calm and collected.

Jasper’s silence was all the answer they needed. He knew refusing them would be futile; while they wouldn’t dare confront him directly, they held the power to keep him from leaving the country.

As the two inspectors exited, the younger man couldn’t contain his frustration. “Why were you so polite? He’s involved in… He’s a person of interest in a major case! He needs to be strictly questioned and detained!”

The woman’s expression remained unflappable. “Do you have any idea who he is?”

“A suspect!” he shot back, his voice rising.

“Use your brain,” she retorted, her patience wearing thin. “Right now, it’s merely an accusation. We have no proof to substantiate it, and we can’t pin anything on him. Besides, his influence in Hindersville is substantial. If we make an enemy of him, the Jackson family won’t take it lightly, and we’ll only invite trouble. Also, the man you’re so eager to vilify donates an unmatched amount of money to charity every year. For that alone, he deserves some respect.”

The younger man opened his mouth to argue but was cut off by his superior’s stern tone. “If you can’t control yourself, I’ll have you replaced.”

The man fell silent, knowing better than to challenge her authority.

Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Jasper pressed his fingers to his temples, a sharp light flickering in his eyes. “Find out the real reason they’re holding us,” he commanded, his tone brooking no argument.

“Yes, boss!” came the quick response.

In the corner, Tatiana was engrossed in building a model with Ann. She watched with admiration as the beautiful spaceship took shape under her daughter’s careful hands. Glancing at the unopened instruction manual sitting nearby, she couldn’t help but marvel at Ann’s innate creativity.

The little girl didn’t even glance at the manual; she simply studied the pieces for a moment before diving into assembly, as if every step had already been etched in her mind. The bond between them, forged through love and resilience, shimmered brightly even amidst the uncertainty surrounding them.
