“Yes. But Ms. Tati’s condition is terrible. She hasn’t regained consciousness and is still receiving treatment.”
“Send doctors!”
He rushed over, standing outside the emergency room, looking through the glass at the person lying inside.
Her face was pale, her body thin, covered in wounds and wrapped in bandages, showing no sign of waking.
He stood before the glass, his expression tense, staring without blinking. The doctor beside him was detailing her injuries:
“When found, she was in a high fever. Multiple wounds on her body were festering, causing complications. If she had been found any later, I’m afraid she couldn’t have been saved.”
He pressed his thin lips together, suppressing his emotions, and asked, “How was she found?”
The subordinate who first found her stood aside and replied, “On an unnamed island. Our ship accidentally encountered their fishing boat. After inquiring, we immediately rushed to the island and took Ms. Tati.”
“When found, Ms. Tati was already comatose. There were no professional doctors there; they only used local folk methods to treat her. By some fluke, it saved her life.”
Jasper heard this and nodded. “Agree to all their demands.”
“Yes.”
He slowly walked into the emergency room and stood by the bed, looking at her intently, scanning every inch.
“Tatiana, welcome home.”
Tatiana felt a sudden, inexplicable tightness in her chest, heavy, as if a boulder were pressing down on it.
She clutched her chest, taking several deep breaths.

“Here, an apple. Eat it.”
She took the apple and bit into it. The apple’s fresh scent dispersed the tightness in her chest.
Today was the third day of their voyage. The seas had been calm, to the point of boredom.
Looking at the endless sea every day, even Tatiana felt a little listless.
Alita sprawled on the deck. “So boring…”
A companion laughed at her. “Be grateful. This kind of boredom is a blessing. If it were too exciting, something bad would happen.”
Alita muttered, “What could happen?”
Tatiana clapped a hand over her mouth. “Shh, don’t say that. It’s bad luck.”
Whatever one fears most is what tends to happen.
The originally calm sea surface suddenly began to get rough. The sea wind turned fierce, making the sails whip and snap.
The experienced captain looked at the sea, his face growing darker. He shouted, “A storm is coming! Furl the sails!”
All the crew members scrambled into action.
Seagulls in the sky shrieked, heralding the coming storm.
In a short time, dark clouds swarmed the sky. Lightning flashed intermittently within the layers of clouds. The calm sea surface roiled with waves, each higher than the last, pounding the ship.
Things on deck were shaking. People could no longer stand steady.
Tatiana worried the herbs she’d brought would be damaged. She hurried to the cabin to protect her things.
The next moment, with a violent crack of thunder, a torrential downpour fell from the sky.
The ship rocked even more violently.
Unease welled up in Tatiana’s heart.

The wind and waves were too strong. The massive waves that were stirred up nearly swamped the boat.
In the face of nature, human strength was too small.
Under the repeated impact of the waves, the old hull began to approach its breaking point.
Alita stumbled over. “Follow me! The hull is breached!”
Alita grabbed her hand, pulling her up.
“My medicine!”
“There’s no time!”
Tatiana could only grab her backpack and follow Alita up.
The moment they got out, there was water under their feet. The sea had already flooded the lowest level and was about to rise further!
The crew was trying to patch the leaks, but there were too many.
Just as they climbed onto the deck, they saw a massive wave.
“Damn it!”
“Hold onto something solid!”
Boom-
The giant wave crashed down.
Tightly closed eyes slowly opened.
Jasper said gently, “Awake? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?”
The person on the bed heard his voice and slowly turned her head to look at him.
“Tatiana.”
