Jasper didn’t show a hint of guilt. Instead, he leaned into the moment. “I happen to own a rather decent vineyard with a private cellar. There are some rare vintages there–would you like to try
them?”
“If I say no, are you going to keep driving at this speed until we get back?”
“Let’s go,” she said, not refusing him.
Between the stress of the search and the long hours at the office, she had been pushing herself too hard. Now that she knew Tammy and Norman were likely safe and simply laying low, her frayed nerves had finally begun to loosen. She could use a distraction.
With her consent, Jasper instantly abandoned his tortoise–like pace. He floored the accelerator, and the heavy SUV roared to life, flying toward the vineyard.
The estate was exclusive–few knew of its existence, but its clientele consisted entirely of the ultra–wealthy and the powerful. At the entrance, a valet was busy directing a fleet of flashing supercars into their spots, his face wearing a practiced, sycophantic smile.
When he saw the unassuming, somewhat bulky black SUV approaching, he looked puzzled. He didn’t recognize the make or model. Seeing the utilitarian lines, the lack of chrome detailing, and the nondescript license plate, he felt a flash of disdain.
Probably some generic domestic brand, he thought. How did they even get past the gate?
He didn’t dare turn a guest away, but he dismissively signaled for the car to park in the worst spot in the furthest corner–a space so tight the passenger door wouldn’t even be able to open.
Jasper, of course, paid him no mind. He pulled the car directly into the prime VIP spot right in front of the main entrance.
Seeing such “cluelessness,” the valet marched over to tap on the window. Before he could reach the car, however, the general manager and several senior staff members came sprinting out. They crowded around the black vehicle with looks of sheer reverence, and the moment the window rolled down, the manager’s expression turned so fawning it was almost tangible.
The valet froze, a cold sweat breaking out across his back. He had never seen his high–and- mighty manager act this way. Even when the wealthiest man in Bellwood visited, the manager merely greeted him at the door. He had never bowed and scraped like this.
Realizing he had almost offended a titan, the valet nearly fainted, praying the VIP wouldn’t bother settling scores with someone as insignificant as him.

Jasper gave a curt nod and walked around to open the passenger door himself. His voice softened instantly. “Tatiana, we’re here.”

Tatiana rubbed her eyes and let out a sinall, tired yawn. The ride had been so smooth and her exhaustion so deep that she had actually drifted off for a few minutes. Her eyes were still misty with sleep, giving her a rare, relaxed vulnerability.
Seeing her like this, Jasper felt his heart melt. “Are you too tired? I can take you home. We can come back another time.”
She shook her head. “I’m already here. Going back now would be a waste of a good trip.”
She stepped out of the car. As the cool evening breeze hit her face, the last remnants of sleep vanished. “Let’s go.”
“Alright.”
The manager and the staff were momentarily stunned. They hadn’t expected Jasper to bring a guest. It was common knowledge that Jasper was famously cold and never allowed women near him… wait! This had to be the legendary Tatiana.
Everyone in Bellwood knew that the skyscraper currently under construction was Jasper’s grand gesture to win a certain woman’s heart. And that mysterious woman was likely the one standing before them.
The manager stole a discreet glance at Tatiana before quickly lowering his head. She was breathtaking–not in the cookie–cutter way of most socialites, but in her sheer presence. If he had to describe it, her aura was a match for Jasper’s own. She didn’t look like a beautiful accessory; she looked like a partner who could stand on equal footing with him.
“This way, please.”
Tatiana found herself genuinely interested in the estate. Inside, she saw a vast expanse of vineyards where every step–from planting and harvesting to fermentation–was transparent and meticulously managed. The cellar boasted one of the most comprehensive collections in the world, capable of satisfying any palate.
“What are we drinking?” she asked curiously.
Jasper smiled but remained silent, keeping the secret.
She arched an eyebrow. “I’m quite picky about my wine. You’d better not disappoint me.”
Jasper chuckled softly. “I’ll do my best.”
