The manager was stunned. A single woman had nearly leveled his entire establishment!
She had fought against ten–no, dozens–and managed to walk away unscathed. While his men weren’t world–class elites, they certainly weren’t so incompetent that they should lose to a lone
woman.
Being a man of the world, the manager quickly composed himself an smile. “Sir.”

Norman withdrew his sharp gaze and regained his calm demeanor. “My apologies, Manager. My wife was worried about me and acted a bit impulsively. I hope you can overlook it.”
The manager’s eyelid twitched. Acted impulsively? My god, man!
“It’s fine, it’s fine! I have to say, your wife is incredible. Her skills are second to none.”
Norman caught the underlying meaning in the manager’s tone. His expression chilled as he pulled her protectively behind him. “She grew up in the countryside. She just happens to be a bit stronger than most.”
This was far more than just being “a bit strong.” However, the manager understood Norman’s implication: he had no intention of letting his woman enter the ring.
It was a pity. Female fighters possessed far higher commercial value.
“Very well. You can give my previous offer some thought and let me know your answer.”
The manager framed it as an option, but he was certain Norman would agree. No one could turn down terms that favorable.
Norman gave a curt nod and led her away by the hand. Under the watchful, wary eyes of the gathered thugs, the two of them departed as if they were a couple on a casual stroll.
One of the henchmen leaned in and whispered, “Manager, that woman isn’t simple. She must be-”
“Shut up. You think I don’t know that? You useless waste!”
The thug fell silent. A dark glint flashed in the manager’s eyes; he was clearly plotting something.
Once they were back in their room, Tammy finally let out a small whimper. “Let go, quick!”
“What’s wrong?” Norman asked, worried she didn’t want him holding her hand.

Only then did he notice her arm was hanging at an unnatural angle. He hissed through his teeth as he carefully pulled back her sleeve to inspect the damage.
Under the harsh, pale light, Tammy’s arm looked like a branch snapp gruesome gash wound its way from her elbow to her wrist, the torn f blood. It was clear the thugs had used blades. Fighting them empty–ha. able to escape unscathed.

“I’ve been out of practice for too long,” she grumbled. “I should have been able to dodge that. Infuriating! I’m going to train so much harder from now on!”
Norman remained silent, his head bowed. Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Tammy felt he might be angry. Her voice grew small. “Am I… am I useless?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!” Norman took a deep breath and slowly looked up, his eyes filled with a terrifying sincerity. “Don’t ever say that again, do you hear me?”
“I hear you… You don’t have to be so mean.”
“I’m sorry. I’ll get the medical kit and patch you up.”
“Bear with me.”
Norman’s voice was colder than the rubbing alcohol, yet his hand hovered over the wound, trembling. This was a man who didn’t flinch at a jab to the face in the ring, yet he struggled three times just to unscrew the cap of the iodine bottle.
The sharp scent of disinfectant filled the air. Norman knelt on the floor, his hair brushing against Tammy’s arm as he leaned in. The sensation was ticklish, making her want to scratch.
The moment the cotton swab touched the wound, Tammy gasped, and the itch was forgotten. Norman stopped immediately, beads of sweat rolling down his jawline
“Does it hurt?”
Of course it did. Such a deep gash being cleaned with alcohol was bound to be agonizing.
Yet, something felt strange to her. Though she had no memory of her past, she had a lingering sense that she wasn’t usually this fragile. She felt as though she had survived far worse injuries and that this shouldn’t be a big deal.
But seeing the sheer terror and concern in Norman’s eyes made her feel… aggrieved.

“It hurts! It hurts so much! Those cowards couldn’t beat me fairly, so they used knives! They’re awful!”
“Do you remember which ones did it?”
“I definitely do!”
“Good. I’ll get revenge for you.”
Norman’s eyes were sharp, devoid of any hint of a joke. He was already calculating how to eliminate them without leaving a trace.
Tammy blinked, pressing a hand to her chest. It felt warm there–sweet, even. Like honey.
“Mm! You have to avenge me!”
Norman took a steadying breath and finished cleaning the wound, his movements incredibly light. By the time he finished bandaging her, he was drenched in sweat.

“Bovine!”
He winced at the name, feeling a wave of embarrassment. He was just about to suggest she pick a new name for him when he felt a soft, warm pressure on his cheek.
He froze.
Tammy gave him a satisfied peck, her eyes crinkling into beautiful crescents as she beamed at him.
“Let’s get married!”
“Wha–what?”
“I said, let’s get married!”
She had made up her mind. She was going to marry him.
