Chapter 490 A Sudden Encounter
Tatiana exposed him without a shred of mercy. “You were thrown over her shoulder, weren’t you?”
Lucas went silent.
Tatiana curled her lips slightly, thinking to herself: Served him right.
“Alright, leave this to me. Stay in the hospital and recover.”
Lucas didn’t argue. His influence was too meager; a place like the underground arena was deep- rooted and held immense power. It wasn’t something he could shake. He could only wait for Tatiana to take action.
A wave of powerlessness washed over him. If he were the true heir of the Cole family, he wouldn’t be so incapable that he couldn’t even conduct a proper investigation. He clenched his fists tightly, a fire igniting in his heart and burning brighter by the second.
Tatiana didn’t waste any time. After leaving the hospital, she headed straight for the underground arena. On the way, Jasper remained uncharacteristically quiet.
Noticing something was off, she turned to him. “What’s wrong?”
Jasper snapped out of it. “Hmm?”
“What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing.”
Tatiana let out a cold snort and looked away, ignoring him. With his state so obvious, it was impossible for nothing to be wrong. If he didn’t want to talk, she wouldn’t push.
Jasper realized a moment too late that she was annoyed. Realizing she had misunderstood his silence, he explained, “The person in charge of this arena… is a former frie mine.”
“You have friends like that?”
She had already looked into the arena’s operations. It wasn’t just a place for boxing; it was a massive coliseum where fighters were treated like beasts in a cage. The matches were like a poison–cultivation ritual, and the body count associated with the place was astronomical. That it had stood for years without being shut down spoke volumes about the power behind it.
Jasper’s eyes flickered. “A friend from a long time ago.”
Seeing his expression, Tatiana felt a prick of unease. “Are you on good terms?”
Jasper fell silent. “Not particularly. We had a bit of a falling out.”
She took a deep breath. “Is
he difficult to deal with?”
“Not especially.” She was about to relax when he added, “But he’s a bit unhinged. He enjoys a good hunt–once he starts, he won’t stop until someone is dead.”
“A psychopath?”
“Essentially.”
Tatiana told the driver to pull over. “You should go.”
“Why?”
“If you go there, you’ll only cause trouble.”
Jasper didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “The arena is his, but he shouldn’t be in this area right now.”
Only then did she reluctantly agree to let him stay. The two of them continued toward the
arena.
“Are you sure the target is there?”
“Positive. But the Boss doesn’t seem to recognize us.”
“How is that possible? Amnesia?”
“Unconfirmed. What’s the plan? The Patriarch’s health is failing, and our rivals have started attacking from within. If this continues, the Cole family will lose its name! We must bring him back at all costs.”
“And if he won’t cooperate?”
“Then we take him by force. He’ll understand the importance of the fam..
ce he’s back.”
To avoid drawing attention, Tatiana and Jasper kept a low profile, buying tickets as ordinary spectators. The Cole family’s men had the same idea. Both groups were scattered throughout the stands, their eyes scanning every ring, searching for the person they were looking for.
Unfortunately for them… Norman wasn’t fighting tonight. He had turned down his matches to take Tammy out.
“Where are you taking me?”
“Ahem. There’s a restaurant nearby that’s supposed to be quite good. I wanted you to try it.”
At the mention of food, Tammy’s eyes lit up instantly. “Okay! Let’s go eat!”
“Before that, let’s get you an outfit.”

Clutching the cash in his pocket, he boldly led Tammy toward the nearest shopping center.
Both wore masks and hats, concealing their faces. Coupled with their ordinary, almost shabby clothing, no sales clerks bothered to greet them as they walked through the mall. Tammy didn’t mind; she wasn’t a fan of skimpy or tight clothing anyway. She hadn’t even wanted new clothes, but since Bovine insisted, she decided to at least look around.
She turned her head and spotted a little black dress in a storefront window. Seeing her linger on it, Norman understood.
“Want to try it on?” Norman suggested, his voice muffled by his mask but carrying a playful hint of a smile. “You’ll definitely look better in it than that plastic mannequin.”
Having shared a bed with her for so long, he knew her measurements well–even if he had never acted on it, he had held her enough to know how perfect her figure was, a fact that tortured him every night.
Tammy stared at it for a long while before shaking her head. “Forget it. It’s not practical.”
She might have amnesia, but she wasn’t stupid; she knew how expensive clothes in a place like this were. They were making money now, but it was hard–earned–even if it was “blood money,” it was still the result of their sweat. It shouldn’t be wasted here.
But Norman was insistent. He took her hand and led her inside.
Behind the glass doors, the sales associates had already taken notice of the two suspicious- looking figures.
