Chapter 518 The Countdown
“You’re the best, you know that?”
“Duh. Who else am I gonna look after if it isn’t you?”
“Better stay that way. Don’t let me catch you looking at anyone else.”
“I hear you. Just you.”
Tammy shifted gears and hit him with a real question. “So why won’t you sleep with me?”
The smile on Norman’s face stiffened.
“We’ve been in the same bed for so long and you haven’t touched me. Why? Don’t you want me?”
Norman almost choked. “Stop talking nonsense.”
“Then what is it?”
“You could be a little less blunt…”
Tammy didn’t blink. “I like you. Why shouldn’t I ask?”

He gave up. He rubbed her head and said, “Let’s wait until we’re married, okay? I want to save that for the day of the ceremony.”
She thought he was being a bit extra. Life was meant to be enjoyed now but seeing how serious he was, she went along with it.
“Fine. When’s the ceremony?”
Norman thought about it for a second. “Fifteen days from now.”
Fifteen days was enough time to bury the mess with the Cole family. Once that was done, he could actually keep her safe.
Tammy looked crushed. “Fifteen days? That’s forever.”
He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “You little glutton.”
I mean it in more ways than one.
Don’t cry later, he added, half–threatening.
Tammy bared her teeth at him. “As if! Bring it on!”
They both laughed.
Once she finished eating, she got ready to head out. “Don’t get hurt!”
She knew he was the best, but she had to say it.
Chapter 518 The Countdown
“Don’t worry. No one here can touch me.”
“I’m off!”
“Mm.”
Tammy went to find Sandra to settle the score.
The second she was out the door, Norman’s smile vanished. He pulled out his phone.
“Is it done?”
“Sir, everything’s been handled exactly like you said.”
“Good.”
The killing intent in his eyes stayed sharp.
I’ve already looked into last night. She was set up. If she hadn’t managed to get away, things would have been catastrophic.
If I weren’t Norman, I would’ve just had to take the hit.
It’s another reminder. Without power, I can’t protect her.

“She’s in Room 1002. Let’s go!”
Sandra was storming up the stairs.
They didn’t bring any muscle. A healthy Tammy was more than enough to handle Cherlene.
But when they got to Room 1002, the door was already open. The place was trashed, looking like a bomb had gone off.
It was empty.
Sandra stared. “Where is she? Did she get robbed?”
Tammy felt something and walked straight in.
She heard water running in the bathroom. The smell of blood was everywhere.
She pushed the door open and stopped dead.
Sandra followed her in. “Where are you go! Ah!!”
A scream ripped through the air.
A body was sitting in the tub. The wrists had been slashed so deep you could see the bone.

Sandra called the cops.

They did their statements and cooperated with the investigation. The cameras proved they had just arrived, so they were in the clear.
After the routine questions, the cops let them go.
Sandra was shaking. “Is she… is she really dead?”
“Yeah.”
By the time they’d found her, Cherlene was long gone.
Sandra turned pale. “Was it really suicide? The room was a mess. It looks more like a hit!
“Who knows.”
It didn’t matter how she died.
After she was gone, the police found a file on her laptop and phone. It was a log of all her recruitment deals over the years.
A lot of them were minors.
She had used every dirty trick to blackmail and pressure people into being “gifts” for clients.
She was a monster. She got what was coming to her.
Tammy was just pissed. She hadn’t even gotten to throw a punch before the woman turned up dead.
“Flowie, what now?” Sandra asked.
“Home,” Tammy muttered.
She wasn’t in the mood to do anything else. Then she remembered her husband had a match. She headed straight for the boxing club.
The place was packed, the crowd screaming as usual.
She looked up at the big screen for Bovine’s number.
She checked the list three times. Nothing.
She even made Sandra double–check. His name wasn’t there.
“That’s weird. Did he say he was fighting this afternoon?”
“He said he was.”
“Then why isn’t he on the board? Wait here, I’ll go ask.”
