Even in Darkness. She chose to Rise
Chapter 589 A Black Flash
“Yeah.”
Jack patted his son on the shoulder, and the matter was settled.
The two of them moved on to work, and Liam brought up the Jackson family situation.
Jack didn’t hold much back. “The evidence is looking bad for them. It’s not just the drugs anymore. The Jacksons’ old books have been dug up, and they’re a mess.”
They talked for a long time.
Liam’s takeaway was grim. It would be nearly impossible for Jasper to walk away clean and save the family business at the same time.
He hadn’t expected a century-old dynasty to take such a massive hit.
Tatiana checked the time and placed a video call to Tammy back in Westland.
It was daytime over there, and Tammy picked up almost instantly.
“Tammy.”
“Tatiana!”
Xavier happened to be nearby. Hearing her voice, he squeezed into the frame. “Tati!”
“Xavier.”
Hubert and Ann crowded around Tatiana, waving. “Uncle Xavier, Alira! Hi! Did you guys m
“Missed you to death! Give me a kiss!”
Tammy leaned in and planted a loud kiss on the screen.
Xavier laughed. “Tammy’s been working herself to the bone lately.”
Tatiana’s expression sharpened. “What happened?”
us?”
Tammy waved it off. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry, I’ve got this handled.”
Tatiana pressed for more, worried they were over their heads, but the two kids knew the adults had serious things to discuss. They didn’t want to interrupt, so they took their laptop to call their own friend.
Before they left, they had given Harimo a watch that could make video calls
They chatted with the chubby little boy almost every day, mostly to nag him about his homework. They didn’t want him falling behind and promised to check his work when they returned.
Haruno had been forced to become a model student. Even though he was only in kindergarten, he was

studying like he was taking the SATs.
But today, the call wouldn’t go through.
“Why isn’t he picking up?”
“Maybe his battery died?”
“Did he forget to charge it?”
“Harimo has a bad memory. He definitely forgot.”
Still, they were worried.
On the other end of the call, Tammy heard them. “I’ll go check on him for you. Where does he live?”
Hubert gave her the address. “Thanks, Tammy!”
“No problem. I’ll head over there tomorrow. Wait for my news.”
After the call ended, Xavier looked at Tammy. “You’re really not going to tell her?”
Tammy gave a muffled grunt.
“No point making Tatiana worry. It’s not a big deal. That guy doesn’t have the guts to actually do anything to me.”
Seeing she wouldn’t budge, Xavier let it drop. “If you need help, let me know.”
Tammy gave him a casual smile. “Thanks!”
Early the next morning, Tammy headed to Harimo’s house. She never broke a promise to the kids.
She tore through the streets on her motorcycle and reached the place in no time.
It was a small, two-story house. Not huge, but a nice place for a local family.
Before she even got inside, she heard the sound of things being smashed.
Her face went cold as she charged in.
A gang of thugs was trashing the place. Everything was being destroyed. In the middle of the mess, two adults were being cornered and beaten.
Harimo was crying, his face covered in tears. “Stop hitting my mommy and daddy!”
The little boy lunged forward, trying to block the men who were twice his size.
“Hey, the brat wants to fight! Look at him! He barely reaches my knee… Ow! The little brat bit me! Kill him!”
The men were local thugs who didn’t care about hitting a kid. They seemed to enjoy it.
Harimo squeezed his eyes shut and wailed, calling for his friends.
“Ann! Hubert! Help me!”
The blow never landed. Instead, he heard a heavy thud and a scream.
Harimo opened his eyes and stared.
A woman in black had appeared out of nowhere. She was fast. She grabbed a man’s arm and sent him flying over her shoulder.
The man hit the ground and stayed there.
The other thugs froze for a second before they all swarmed her at once.
“Get her!”
Harimo’s parents scrambled off the floor, but they were too shocked to move.
Tammy dropped low to dodge a swing. She grabbed a man’s ankle and yanked him off balance, then caught him with a heavy kick to the head as he went down.
Another guy swung a metal pipe at her. Tammy stepped into his space, dodged the swing, and landed a punch that took the wind out of him. The pipe clattered to the floor. She caught it with her foot, flipped it into her hand, and slammed the handle into his gut.
