Even in Darkness, She Chose to Rise

Chapter 607 Torrent of Memory

Tammy’s expression remained absolutely unyielding.

“I have no need for your pursuit, Norman. Your presence brings nothing but a massive complication to my life.”

“Tammy…”

“I have never forgiven you for your deception. Therefore, do not ever show your face near me again.”

Leaving him with those final words, Tammy turned her back and walked away without looking back.

Norman was left completely shattered by the rejection, spending his nights drowning his sorrows in alcohol. This once untouchable, arrogant man, a notorious playboy who had effortlessly discarded countless women throughout his life, was finally tasting the bitter agony of being completely abandoned.

She was genuinely finished with him.

Unable to accept the reality of the situation, he used alcohol to numb the pain.

When Tatiana’s call finally came through, he was sitting completely alone at a local bar. There were no women surrounding him this time, only his own reflection and a half-empty glass.

But the sudden news that Tammy had vanished hit him like a bucket of freezing water, instantly clearing the chaotic, alcohol-induced fog from his brain.

“I am going to find her right now!”

The line cut out abruptly. Tatiana took a deep, steadying breath, immediately mobilizing her remaining personnel on the ground to begin scanning the area for Tammy’s whereabouts.

Meanwhile, she packed her own bags, determined to board the next available flight back to the mining region.

When Tammy finally

. Consciousness, she found herself lying in a hospital room.

It was a highly exclusive private facility. Her head was throbbing with an absolute, blinding agony, and a heavy fog hung over her thoughts. The moment she lifted a hand to touch the bandage wrapped tightly around her skull, a firm grip intercepted her fingers.

“Don’t move. You suffered a severe head injury, and the doctors just finished dressing the wound.”

An incredibly familiar voice echoed right beside her ear.

She instinctively lifted her head to track the sound, and her eyes pinned his face. In that exact fraction of a second, it felt as though a massive explosion detonated inside her brain.

Countless vivid images began to flood her consciousness with ferocious speed, looking exactly like a movie playing at ten times its normal speed. And she was the undisputed leading lady of the film.

Every single memory she had completely lost over the past few years rushed back to the surface all at once.

“Ugh!”

She clamped both hands over her head, letting out a sharp groan. The physical ache of the surface wound was absolutely nothing compared to the violent, crushing pressure ripping through the deepest recesses of her mind.

“Tammy!”

Lucas forcefully pulled her hands away from her face, desperate to stop her from aggravating the trauma.

Predictably, fresh crimson blood began to seep through the white fabric of the bandage. A look of profound, agonizing worry crossed his features., “Tammy, please calm down! Do not move. Tell me whats wrong.”

Tammy’s face turned completely white as a sheet, cold sweat instantly drenching her skin. A sharp, piercing screech vibrated in her ears.

Stop it!

Make it stop!

Yet the forgotten chapters of her past showed absolute zero mercy for her well-being, demanding a full and total restoration. When the blinding tide of pain finally receded, she was left gasping for air, her breath ragged and heavy.

Lucas slowly and carefully relaxed his grip on her wrists. “Tammy, are you alright?”

Tammy finally lifted her head, exposing a face slicked with sweat. Her gaze locked onto Lucas, remaining entirely fixed on him in absolute silence.

The sheer intensity in her eyes sent a violent jolt straight through Lucas’s chest, and an incredible, impossible realization took root in his mind. “Tammy, do you know who I am? Did you… did you remember?”

The phrase restored memory hung in the air, his excitement leaving him entirely unable to voice the words.

Tammy exhaled a long, heavy breath, her voice raw and scratching against her throat. “Why exactly am I in this place?”

“You were struck by a vehicle,” he explained quickly, his tone dripping with relief. “You suffered a severe concussion, but please don’t be afraid. Everything is fine now. I am right here by your side, and I will ensure you are provided with the absolute best treatment so this doesn’t leave a single scar.”

He was incredibly grateful to the heavens. He had managed to pinpoint her location, boarded a flight without a second thought, and by a stroke of absolute luck, crossed paths with her the moment he arrived.

The world was an immense place, and the mathematical probability of finding her again was practically zero. He hadn’t dared to harbor any real hope, yet destiny had shown him supreme mercy by putting her back in his life.

If only he had arrived a few minutes earlier, he could have intercepted her path and shielded her from the impact of that out-of-control vehicle.

As the fog cleared, Tammy’s mind reconstructed the timeline of the accident. She remembered confronting Norman, and the lingering frustration from the interaction had caused her to drive her motorcycle at an incredibly reckless speed on her return journey.

While taking a sharp turn, a speeding pickup truck had violently broadsided her.

Before slipping into absolute unconsciousness, she vaguely recalled a figure rushing toward her in a state of complete panic, screaming her name over and over again.

This second traumatic impact had somehow managed to shatter the mental block, bringing/back every single memory she had lost.

She didn’t know whether to consider it a stroke of luck or an absolute curse. Part of her wanted to burst into a loud, mocking laugh at the sheer absurdity of her fate.

How incredibly cursed did a woman have to be to cross paths with two utterly toxic men in a single lifetime?

One had failed to protect her when it mattered most.

The other had built an entire relationship on a foundation of calculated lies.

And now, both of them had the absolute audacity to stand in front of her looking entirely regretful and heartbroken.

But what about her? Was she not allowed to feel the crushing weight of the agony?

When she recalled the devastating betrayals Lucas had subjected her to in the past, it felt exactly as though a jagged blade were twisting inside her heart. Norman deserved to burn, and Lucas was entirely no different.

A savage wave of fury crested in her chest, and she used every ounce of her strength to violently shove Lucas away from the bed.
