Chapter 641 Cooking Class Disaster

Lucas thought she only wanted to cook out of boredom. He blamed himself for keeping her by his side without finding fun things to keep her occupied.
“Do you like horse racing? Or car racing? Amusement parks? Shopping…”
“No, none of those interest me.”
“Then what do you feel like doing…”
“Quit worrying about it.”
She was extremely stubborn. The more something seemed hard, the more determined she was to pull it off.
She’d set her mind on mastering cooking no matter what.
Noticing the stubborn fire burning bright in her eyes, Lucas asked, “If you really want to learn to cook… how about I sign you up for a crash cooking course?”
She spun around instantly, “There’s such a thing?”
“Yep. They teach basic dishes. What kind of food do you want to make?”
“Just simple stuff.
“Enough to fill my stomach.”
“A three–day crash course will suit you.”
“Sign me up right now!”
Once she set her mind to something, she acted at once. She was determined to get this right.
Lucas had no choice but to book a spot in the crash cooking class for her.
He figured with an instructor watching over her, she couldn’t possibly blow up another kitchen.
It was rare to see her passionate about anything, so he couldn’t bring himself to stop her.
The next morning, Tammy got up bright and early and headed out full of excitement.
Lucas still felt uneasy, “Do you want me to come along with you…”
“No need! I can handle this alone! Stay home and rest!”

Tammy marched out with full confidence.
The training venue was nearby, so she walked there on foot.
Quite a few people had signed up for the basic cooking crash course, most of them housewives eager to learn simple home–cooked meals.
Tammy easily stood out from the crowd.
She’d worn a formal long black dress and fixed up her appearance perfectly, treating the class as a serious event.
She looked like she was heading to a formal conference rather than a cooking lesson.
All the other students kept glancing over at her out of curiosity.
Even the instructor at the front found it odd and walked down to ask her, “Miss, have you come to the wrong place?”
“Nope. I’m here to learn how to cook.”
“Are you certain?”
“Absolutely. I’m sure I’ll be good at it.”
Relieved, the instructor returned to start the lesson.
She handed every student a few potatoes.
“Let’s start with an easy dish: Butter–Fried Potatoes. It’s a popular home meal and simple to make. Follow my steps one by one. Grab your potato and peel it first…”
Tammy gripped her potato, her gaze deadly serious as she followed every instruction exactly- washing, peeling, slicing.
The sharp kitchen knife moved like an extension of her hand.
Swish swish swish.
So quick it left a blur, and before anyone could blink, a miniature mountain of perfectly uniform potato cubes sat atop the cutting board.
Each piece identical in size.
The people beside her stared in shock.

Even the instructor up front was stunned. With knife skills this good, why was she taking a beginner’s class?
Once she finished cutting, Tammy finished with one clean movement and let out a long breath.
She turned to find every single person staring at her,
looking at her like she was some kind of misfit.
The instructor hurried down to stand behind her, picked up one of her potato cubes, and studied it with a complicated expression.
Her cutting was even better than the instructor’s own.
“Tammy, are you positive you’ve never learned cooking before?”
Tammy shook her head, “Otherwise why would I be here?”
The instructor realized he’d asked a silly question and grew awkward, “Your knife work is incredible.”
She replied with modest understatement, “I’ve spent lots of time skinning and deboning things. Practice makes perfect.”
Catching the instructor’s horrified look, she quickly added an explanation, “My family runs a pig farm. I butcher pigs, yeah, lots of pigs over the years.”
The instructor relaxed and praised her, “You’d never guess you work on a pig farm from how you’re dressed. Alright, let’s move on to seasoning…”
The lesson carried on.
It didn’t take long for the instructor to figure out why someone with elite knife skills needed a basic home cooking course.
“Fire! The pan’s on fire!”
A female student screamed and scrambled backward.
Tammy rushed forward with a pot lid to smother the flames.
But as she lifted the lid, she accidentally knocked over a bottle of cooking oil.
When she slammed the lid down…
Boom-

By the time Lucas rushed to the training classroom, he spotted Tammy sitting alone on a chair, covered in ash.
She hung her head low, filled with dejection and regret.
Her expensive formal dress was splattered with oil and food scraps, and the ends of her hair had been singed.
Thankfully, she didn’t seem injured.
Lucas held back a laugh, walked over, ruffled her hair gently, and spoke softly, “You alright?”
Tammy lifted her head, her face glum, “Not really. I burned down the classroom.”
“I know. That’s why I came.”
“I’ve caused you trouble again.”
“Don’t say that. This is no trouble at all. I’m happy to sort everything out.”
“Truly no hassle?”
“None whatsoever.”
She let out a sigh of relief, “I can pay for all the damages.”
“You don’t need to worry about any of that. I’ll take care of everything.”
She was terrible at handling these messy disputes, and the thought stressed her out.
Lucas told her to sit and wait while he negotiated compensation with the training center staff,
Of course he agreed to pay full damages without a single complaint.
He even thoughtfully handed out compensation for mental distress to everyone present, doubling the amount for the terrified instructor.
The teacher looked thoroughly shaken, pale–faced and covered in grime from the fire.

His voice cracked with agitation as he grabbed Lucas’s arm tightly, “Keep her far away! Promise me you’ll keep her out of kitchens! It’s only a matter of time before there’s a fatal accident!”
Lucas quickly calmed the panicking instructor down.
