Chapter 298 Crossing the Line
Arden nodded. “Okay.”
“You’re riding with me.”
Finished
“No,” Arden replied. “I bought my car on a loan. I’ll drive myself. I still need to go back to my family’s place tonight.”
She added, “Mr. Vale, Caleb already told you. There’s a sexual assault case in the city. My mom’s worried and insists I go home every night. I probably can’t go back to Silverbay Villa anymore.”
Dorian had already heard about the case from Lucien that morning.
He said, “Fine.”
“But tonight you’re riding in my car to the estate. I’ll take you back afterward.”
“No,” Arden refused. “Eugenia invited Caleb too. I’ll go with him.”
Dorian went quiet. After work, Caleb was indeed waiting outside Vale Group.
Dorian watched Arden get into Caleb’s car and drive off. His face darkened as he got into his own.
The siblings brought gifts.
The Vale family still didn’t know about the fake divorce. With Caleb there, Dorian barely had a chance to get near Arden.
He could only sit and watch her chat easily with Eugenia, Elias, Gideon, Theresa, and Celine.
She no longer called Theresa or Gideon Mom and Dad. She addressed them as Aunt and Uncle. She addressed him only as Mr. Vale.
She didn’t look his way once.
Then Caleb casually mentioned, “Dorian was seriously injured. Last night he brought Arden to Silverbay Villa to change his dressings and had her stay overnight.”
The living room went silent.
Elias slammed a chess piece onto the board. “Ridiculous. Dorian, you’re divorced. You had Arlen v overnight at your place. What were you thinking? Did you get her parents‘ consent?”
Eugenia slapped his arm. “She’s divorced now. She’s single. What you did could ruin her reparation. Who would dare pursue her after that?”
Caleb added evenly, “He also threatened her. If she didn’t go with him, he said he’d have his people detal
me.”
Theresa stared at her son. “Dorian, is that true? Did you force her?”

“Yes,” Dorian answered.
He looked at Arden. She sat quietly, not looking at him, expression flat.
“Unacceptable,” Elias snapped. “You wanted the divorce. Now you’re using threats.”
Eugenia turned to Arden. “Did he do anything to you last night?”
“No.”
Finished
Eugenia was exasperated. “This is what you call not mistreating her? Isn’t this abusing your authority? From now on, Arden is not allowed to stay overnight at Silverbay Villa.”
Dorian said nothing.
Seeing his eyes fixed on Arden without a word, Eugenia hit him again. “Did you hear me?”
‘I didn’t mistreat her.”
‘She’s a single woman. Staying overnight at a man’s house, what do you think that looks like?”
Celine stared at him. “You wanted the secret marriage. You wanted the divorce. Don’t turn into some creep
who thinks he can still control her.”
Dorian said sharply, “Celine, shut up.”
Celine stuck her tongue out. Dorian asked, “Arden, tell them. Did I mistreat you?”
Everyone looked at her.
