Chapter 120
Third Person’s PQV
“If you’re going to act like a brat, get out and walk home. Sera can take me to the clinic’s cafeteria-it’ll save me from having to look at your pathetic, sulking face.” Edwin’s voice was like a whip, and the Alpha aura he let off made the temperature in the sedan drop ten degrees.
Mortimer took a sharp breath, his chest heaving.
He slammed the central lock button. The click of the doors locking was a violent sound in the silence.
“Fine,” he bit out, the words practically scraped from his throat.
He stomped on the gas and tore away from the Shadowfang Healing Center.
The car eventually pulled up in front of a high-end seafood restaurant that smelled like the deep ocean.
The second they stepped into the private suite, Mortimer went into overdrive. “Grandfather, stay here. Sera and I need to go pick out the fresh catch.”
This place flew in live seafood from across the globe.
To wolves with heightened senses, that raw, metallic scent of fresh blood was the only thing that could soothe the pre-Solstice
restlessness.
“I-” Seraphina started to protest, but a hand clamped around her arm like a shackle.
Mortimer wasn’t giving her a choice. He hauled her out of the room before she could finish a sentence.
“Let go. Don’t act like some unevolved stray,” Seraphina hissed, her voice low but sharp.
Mortimer let out a dark, dry chuckle. His eyes-predatory and hungry-swept over her, but his grip didn’t loosen.
“Dragging you?” He leaned in, his thumb doing an uncomfortably intimate stroke against the skin of her arm, trying to spark a reaction from a mating bond he’d spent years ignoring. “I’m barely scenting the target, Sera. I haven’t even started ‘marking’
you yet.” $4
Before she could blink, he pinned her. He used his sheer Alpha size to trap her in a shadowed corner of the hallway.
“Seraphina, if you say no to me one more time, I won’t just drag you…”
He leaned down, his burning breath crashing against the shell of her ear. “I’ll bite.”
It was a hunter’s whisper. A low, vibrating threat designed to make an omega’s knees buckle.
He let a trace of his pine-scented pheromones leak out-heavy, possessive, and thick with a need to dominate.
Seraphina leaned back, her spine hitting the cold stone wall.
But she didn’t shiver. She didn’t flinch. She just looked up at him with eyes that were terrifyingly clear-clinical, even.
A jagged, mocking smile touched her lips.
“Alpha Mortimer… where did you learn that? It’s incredibly cheesy.”
Mortimer’s smirk didn’t just fade; it died.
Cheesy?
The Alpha of the Blade Pack had just been called cheesy?

He could feel his wolf howling in humiliation.
The blow to his ego was so sharp it actually made his chest throb.
While he was still reeling from the insult, Seraphina shoved him back. “Grandfather is waiting. Stop wasting time on these pathetic little games.”
She brushed past him and headed for the ordering tank.
Mortimer stood there, radiating a “I want to rip something in half” energy.
Last night, Velda-his head of security had sworn this worked on the girls she dated. She’d said it drove them wild.
Why the hell was it failing so spectacularly with Seraphina? Why did she look at him like he was yesterday’s newspaper?
“Is that how that ‘mutt’ she’s keeping treats her?” he thought, his rage flaring. “Does he tease her better than I do? Is that why she doesn’t want to come home?”
He glared at her back, but the anger was slowly being hollowed out by a terrifying sense of powerlessness.
He’d lost his grip on her, and he didn’t know how to get it back.
He let out a low curse and followed her, his ego bruised and his face dark.
Seraphina was already talking to the waiter, listing Grandfather’s dietary restrictions with surgical precision.
