Chapter 135
Third Person’s POV
“What do you mean ‘garbage’? sharing the finer things in life with Luna Seraphinal”
Velda shouted back from behind Seraphina’s shoulder, her voice full of snark. “Are you just jealous because my ‘boys’ are younger, wilder, and have better cardio than you?
She tilted her chin up, mimicking their father’s arrogant pase. “Oh-I almost forgot. Isn’t your heart already full with your precious Vivian? Why do you care if I find the Luna a fresh set of eyes? Don’t be a hypocrite, Mortimer.”
“Velda!!!” Mortimer’s pulse was hammering in his throat. He was one sentence away from losing his mind.
Had everyone signed a pact to bury him today?
Sabotaging his mating, dragging up his history-was this how a family was supposed to act?
“See, Luna? One mention of his darling Vivian and he’s ready to shift and bite,” Velda muttered to Seraphina, completely oblivious to the fact that Mortimer’s eyes were glowing a dangerous, feral red.
Inside his head, Barton let out a bloodthirsty roar. Mortimer seriously considered paying someone to sew Velda’s mouth shut.
“Heh. Velda? Your allowance for next month? Zeroed. Consider it gone.”
Velda’s pupils dilated in shock. She let out a shriek. “NO! That’s a personal vendetta! You can’t do that!”
“Alright, that’s enough. Stop acting like strays in front of Alpha Edwin,” Susan cut in, throwing her daughter a warning look.
Her silent message was clear: Push him too far and Seraphina will leave for good. Keep it tactical.
The scent of dinner-heavy, savory, and rich-began to fill the dining room.
Edwin descended the stairs, leaning on his wolf-head cane, moving with a slow, practiced gravity.
He raised a white eyebrow when he saw Mortimer at the table.
“Wow. A celebrity guest. To what do we owe the honor?”
“Grandfather, please. Just stop,” Mortimer muttered, looking like a man who had already stood before a firing squad four times today.
Everyone in this house wanted a piece of him, didn’t they?
Edwin caught the dark, sulky cloud hanging over his grandson and let out a sharp huff. “Oh, you’re suffering now?” he thought. “Funny, I didn’t see you hurting when you left Seraphina in a snowbank.”
“Sit down and eat,” Edwin commanded, taking the head of the table.
Seraphina moved to her usual spot next to Susan.
Velda, moving like a lightning bolt, pulled out the chair directly next to Seraphina and claimed it.
Mortimer’s hand froze mid-air, inches away from the same chair.
He stared at his sister with a look of pure, concentrated loathing.
“Velda. Move.” His voice was a low, Alpha aura growl.
Velda looked up, feigning confusion. “What? There are plenty of seats. Go sit next to Uncle. You can talk to him about his ‘ artistic visions’.”

“I’m sitting with my Luna,” Mortimer barked, his face turning a subtle shade of red as he leaned into the title. “It’s a family tradition.”
“Tradition? You’re the most ‘untraditional’ person in this house!”
Velda rolled her eyes with an elegance that only a high-born wolf could manage. “Besides, I always sit next to Sera. First come, first served-that’s the rule.”
Mortimer’s aura dropped another ten degrees. He leaned in, his voice a lethal whisper. “Velda. Your allowance for the month after next? Also gone.”
Velda bristled, looking like she wanted to stab him with a steak knife.
She grabbed Seraphina’s arm, shaking it like a wounded pup. “Sera, tell him! Are you really going to let him bully me like this?”
Seraphina felt a headache forming behind her eyes. What was she supposed to say? Mortimer had never listened to a word she
said in three years.
But seeing Velda’s pathetic expression, she sighed and spoke into the tension. “Velda always sits here. We’re used to it.”
“Is that so?” Mortimer shot a frigid look at his sister. “Well, starting today, she can get ‘used’ to sitting somewhere else.”
He leaned down, showing his hand. “Velda, do you really think your remaining stipend is enough to buy those expensive ‘gifts’ for your little ‘soft-boys’?”
