Chapter 143
Third Person’s POV
Mortimer just threw him a freezing, lethal-glare.
Wilmot shrugged, completely unfazed.
It wasn’t like he was the one about to end up single.
Oh, wait, he almost forgot-his own mate had just filed for a forced arbitration to dissolve their mating a few days ago.
Thinking about this, Wilmot instantly wiped the smirk off his face, leaned back into the shadows of the booth, and went back to sulking. He was officially checked out of the whole “Save Vivian” project.
Right then, Mortimer, who had just slammed back several stiff drinks, crashed his crystal glass hard against the solid marble
coffee table.
“Bang!”
The sharp sound of breaking glass cut right through the heavy bass of the speakers.
The high-ranking wolves around him jumped, throwing anxious, confused looks his way.
Mortimer white-knuckled his fists, his voice dropping into a low, suffocating growl that sounded cracked and deeply hurt.” Seraphina is keeping another dog behind my back.”
The booth went dead silent.
What was the big deal if Seraphina got a pet dog?
Did Mortimer really need to let his pheromones go wild over a pet?
Randall tried to use some humor to break the ice, cracking a smile. “Hey Mortimer, you’re way too serious. Dogs are actually pretty cute. Look at Chloe’s bully dog-the emotional value that little guy provides is insane. Since he moved in, Chloe’s been way nicer to me.”
Randall got more hyped as he talked, until he noticed Mortimer’s eyes looking as cold as a Siberian winter. He quickly choked
back his words and shut up.
Wow, Mortimer really hated furry animals.
“Do you think I’m talking about a literal animal?!”
す
The veins in Mortimer’s temple bulged. He practically spit the words through his teeth. “Seraphina has a lover out there! She’s betraying our contract! She’s cheating on me!!”
The second those words dropped, all the joking in the booth evaporated.
Under the flashing neon lights, everyone’s face looked wild and incredibly stunned.
Even Wilmot, who had been hiding in the corner scrolling through his wife’s social media, whipped his head up.
Seraphina cheated?
Since when?
If there really was a side-piece, there was no way Chloe wouldn’t have gossiped about it with him on the phone.
Maybe the alcohol was finally hitting him, or maybe the bitter resentment built up in his chest had finally broken through the dam. After roaring that sentence, Mortimer’s sharp eyes went completely bloodshot.

“The guy went missing, and she completely lost it… She tried to jump out of my car at sixty miles an hour just to go find him. She even kicked me.”
The guys exchanged looks.
For some reason, this accusation was packed with drama, but it just felt weirdly off.
And honestly, the way Mortimer-the absolute boss of the West Coast–was whining right now sounded exactly like an elementary school kid who just got his toys stolen andran home to complain to his parents.
It was both hilarious and pathetic.
“So… you’re convinced Seraphina is cheating because she’s keeping ‘another dog’ out there?” Wilmot’s expression was a total picture.
He lowered his head, staring blankly at his phone screen, which had just updated with a fresh post. It was a missing pet alert.
“[REWARD]. A friend’s golden retriever puppy went missing near Sunset Boulevard. He’s only a month old. His name is ‘Dash,’ and he responds to his name. This puppy is incredibly important to my friend. Massive reward for anyone who can provide clues and help Sera find him. Thank you so much!”
The attached picture showed a tiny, fluffy golden retriever puppy that could barely walk straight, panting happily at the camera.
Wilmot stared at the palm-sized “Dash” in the photo, then slowly raised his head to look at Mortimer, who was sitting in the middle of the couch looking completely miserable, his eyes burning red because he’d gotten kicked.
