Chapter 202
Third Person’s POV
Mortimer clearly sensed the coldness and disgust radiating from her.
It was a dead silence, far more terrifying than anger. His instincts screamed that at this very moment, something had completely shattered.
Seraphina stopped at her door and looked back at him. Her aloof eyes held absolutely zero warmth. “Thank you for taking care of Dash recently. I won’t be troubling you from tomorrow onward.”
Her words were like a sharp blade plunging straight into Mortimer’s heart. His face changed drastically, his breathing stalling
completely.
He instinctively reached out, grabbing her arm tightly. His voice was impossibly hoarse, trembling as he asked carefully, “What happened? Sera, tell me, please?”
Seraphina shook off his hand with extreme coldness, acting as if she had been touched by something filthy.
She pulled her arm back and hugged Dash tighter against her chest.
“It’s nothing. I just realized I shouldn’t keep bothering you with him.”
She had no desire to argue with him. Right now, she just wanted him to leave.
But the next second, Mortimer grabbed her hand again.
His gaze locked onto her pinky finger protruding from her coat sleeve. His pupils shrank sharply, and a suppressed, low whine escaped his throat.
“What happened to your finger? Why is it so swollen?”
Seraphina followed his gaze to her left pinky. The joint was swollen high, glaringly bruised and purple, and throbbing with a dull ache.
The suppressed anger from earlier had kept her completely tense, making her oblivious to the injury.
Now, with Mortimer pointing it out, the piercing pain finally registered.
It was from when she had blocked Vivian’s heavy designer bag; the sharp metal clasp had smashed directly into her bone.
Seeing the bruise, Mortimer panicked.
He instinctively closed his eyes, trying to sense her pain through the remnants of their mating bond.
A layer of warm energy surged in his palm as he tried to shoulder the pain for her.
However, before his healing power could even reach her, Seraphina yanked her hand back as if electrocuted. Her absolute coldness and resistance instantly severed their spiritual resonance.
The backlash of the rejected energy slammed into Mortimer’s chest.
With red-rimmed eyes, his voice carried a pleading, undisguised anxiety. “Sera, don’t reject me… Our mating is already severely damaged. If you keep repelling me like this, it won’t just weaken your wolf, it’ll slow down your healing abilities too. In the past, your body would have healed a minor injury like this in minutes, but look at it now!”
Hearing his high-sounding concern, Seraphina only felt a wave of irony.
She looked up, her reddened eyes filled with a stagnant, dead-water detachment. She shot back, enunciating every single word, “If you are truly so worried about my wolf and my health, Mortimer, you can officially reject me right now. As long as we cut this bond cleanly, I will never be negatively affected by you again.”

Hearing the word reject fall from her lips, Mortimer’s face turned as pale as paper.
He clenched his fists tightly, unable to speak a single word.

Seraphina looked at him coldly. The absolute resistance and dead silence in her eyes finally made a despairing Mortimer let go
of her hand.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the violent, volatile urges churning in his chest, and asked hoarsely, “Vivian did this, didn’t she?”
Seraphina paused as she unlocked the door.
It seemed Vivian had indeed run straight to him to complain in her rush
A mocking smile pulled at the corner of her mouth. She looked him in the eye and sneered, “Yes, it was her. She specifically came to my clinic today to warn me to have some self-awareness, to break the contract with you early, and to hand over the position of the official Luna to her.”
Seeing Mortimer’s face grow increasingly ugly, the chill in Seraphina’s eyes deepened. She continued bluntly, “Mortimer, I am very busy. I have many patients to see and a lot of work to do every single day. I really don’t have the time or energy to deal with the canary you keep on the side. Please keep her on a leash and stop letting her disrupt my life like a lunatic.”
Mortimer completely panicked. Standing there helplessly, he desperately tried to explain, “I didn’t know she went to see you… Sera, I swear I didn’t know!”
