Chapter 221
Third Person’s POV:
“Even if you drink yourself to death tonight, Seraphina still won’t spare you a second glance.”
“Shut up.” Mortimer’s eyes burned crimson as he glared at Wilmot. A low, predatory growl rumbled in his throat as he forced the words through clenched teeth.
Wilmot let out a cold laugh. “What’s so unbearable about this? She just had dinner with another man. And that hurts you? What about what you did to her? You left her alone on that mountain because of Vivian. You even had the video taken down. Wasn’t that a hundred times worse? Did she ever make a scene over it?”
“Will, enough.” Humphrey broke into a cold sweat and hurriedly tugged at Wilmot’s sleeve.
Mortimer’s face darkened like a storm about to break. Every muscle in his body was drawn tight, as if he could snap at any
moment.
The room fell deathly silent. No one even dared breathe.
Yet after several tense seconds, Mortimer forced himself to calm down.
Without a word, he yanked the bottle from Wilmot’s hand.
No one could stop the stubborn Alpha. All they could do was watch him closely, ready to call the Healing Center’s emergency team at a moment’s notice.
“Tch. Who are you putting on this little performance for?” The sarcastic voice shattered the suffocating silence.
Cold sweat immediately ran down Humphrey’s back. He turned in shock.
His mate Alina had already risen to her feet. Without the slightest trace of fear, she met Mortimer’s blood-red eyes head-on.
“Alpha Mortimer, maybe I’m not in any position to lecture you. And I’m not especially close to Luna Seraphina. But if you’ll allow me to be honest, what you’re doing right now is nothing but self-pity. And frankly, it’s pathetic.”
Humphrey nearly collapsed. He hurriedly reached out to cover Alina’s mouth. She slapped his hand away without hesitation.
“Sit down.” She didn’t even look at him.
Humphrey froze. This was the first time he’d ever seen his gentle mate wear such a cold expression. Even when she called him a stupid wolf, she had never looked like this.
Alina turned back to Mortimer. The mockery in her eyes was unmistakable. “You’ve been married to Luna Seraphina for three years. When she loved you with everything she had, you never appreciated it. But after she barely survived that avalanche in Alaska, now suddenly you’re acting like the devoted husband. Or is it simply that you took her love for granted? You kept hurting her because you believed she’d never leave. And now that she finally has, your Alpha pride can’t accept it.”
“Alina…” Humphrey sounded ready to cry.
“The other day, Humphrey came to my shop looking for heirloom flower seeds. He said you wanted to plant them on the terrace. The moment I saw the varieties, I knew exactly what they meant. I’m a herbalist. People like me understand the language of flowers. Every flower carries a meaning. And every flower you chose symbolizes feelings that are never spoken aloud.”
Mortimer’s hand froze around the bottle.
Slowly, his blood-red eyes lifted to meet hers. The Alpha pressure in the room returned once again.
Alina didn’t back down. Instead, her smile grew even colder. “I imagine Luna Seraphina once planted those flowers herself. But when she left, she pulled every last one out by the roots.

“I suppose, to her, there was no point in keeping things that reminded her of how she’d let her own love become a cage. So I’m sorry. I won’t be selling them to you. If Luna Seraphina no longer wants those feelings, who exactly are you trying to impress now?”
Mortimer’s hand trembled around the glass. Deep inside him, his wolf spirit let out a weak, despairing whimper.
After what felt like forever, he finally spoke. His voice was barely recognizable. “…You’re saying those flowers represented feelings she’d never spoken?” /
No wonder. When Vivian destroyed the flowers on the terrace, Seraphina looked heartbroken. Yet beneath that sadness, there had also been relief.
