Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 225

Chapter 225

Third Person’s POV

Mortimer got into the car, rubbing his increasingly painful temples as he stared at the message he’d sent to Seraphina a few hours ago, which still hadn’t received a reply.

She knew. She knew he had “helped” Lillian take down the videos of Dash being abused; she knew he had once again “chosen” Vivian over her in order to “protect” Vivian.

So she could never leave Dash in his hands again. She couldn’t trust him anymore.

So when he suffered a gastric hemorrhage, she didn’t even come to see him, not even ask a single question.

Time and time again, he had acted like he knew better, only to make everything worse.

She must have hated him more than anything.

Mortimer felt a headache coming on, pain pulsing sharply through his temples.

He called Seraphina again, and this time the call was hung up after a few rings.

Unwilling to give up, he dialed again, and after two rings, it was hung up once more.

He opened Seraphina’s chat again. The screen was filled with messages he’d sent, and the flood of unanswered texts felt like a cruel mockery.

“I can explain about the videos.”

After typing, he was about to send it, but felt words were not enough, so he sent a voice message, “Seraphina, where are you? I can explain about the videos; can we meet and talk?”

He had to summon almost all his courage just to send it.

But even after a long time, there was still no response to the message.

He sent several more messages in succession, but silence was the only response he received.

From the driver’s seat, George glanced at Mortimer several times through the rearview mirror, sighing to himself-he had always known Mortimer would regret it sooner or later!

“Alpha, are we going back to the villa?” George asked.

Mortimer leaned back against the seat, closed his eyes and was silent for a long time before speaking in hoarse voice, “Go to Evernight Heights.”

Half an hour later, Mortimer stood at Seraphina’s doorstep.

He pressed the doorbell several times, but Seraphina never came out to open the door.

She hadn’t come back yet?

It was so late; why hadn’t she come back yet?

Mortimer’s mind was filled with the photos Humphrey had shown him of Seraphina having dinner with another man.

He knew rationally that there was nothing between Seraphina and that man, that she would never betray him, not with their mate bond tying them together. Yet those photos still stirred a fierce, uncontrollable jealousy within him.

After a long while, he took out his phone and made a call. “Find out where Seraphina is.”

On the other side, Caldwell saw Seraphina hang up several calls in a row and asked casually, “Someone keeps calling you? Is it

urgent?”

Seraphina shook her head. “It’s nothing, just someone unimportant.”

She wondered what was wrong with Mortimer today, calling her so many times.

Seraphina frowned slightly, then said to Caldwell, “Are you back for vacation this time? I have plenty of free time coming up, so I can show you around Los Angeles.”

Caldwell looked at her with a smile. “Not for vacation. I’ve been transferred back to work. I probably won’t return to Alaska for a while.”

“Really? That’s great. I can show you around properly.”

Seraphina’s expression softened. “Have you decided which hospital you’ll be working at?”

Caldwell shook his head. “I’m not going to practice medicine anymore. I found teaching position, so my schedule will be more flexible.”

Seraphina nodded empathetically. “Doctors really are busy. Since you’ve just got back, it’s good to get used to the pace here first.

After dinner, when Seraphina was about to pay the bill, she was told that Caldwell had already paid.

She remembered Caldwell had gone to the restroom halfway through the meal, so he must have quietly picked up the check

then.

Seraphina felt a bit discomforted. “I said I would treat you.”

Caldwell shook his head with a meaningful smile. “No rush, there will be plenty of chances to do that in the future.”
