Elias glanced at Prunella and chose not to hide anything. He relayed every word Velda had said to him.

Then he took Prunella’s hand, looking helpless. “I swear I’ve never had another woman. We have a mating bond. If I’d really betrayed you, how could your wolf not have sensed it?”

“But what if it is true?” Prunella admitted she was curious herself.

Someone carrying Craig’s blood had suddenly appeared. If he had no interest in the family, then there was nothing to worry about. But if he was planning to make a move…

The Craig Group had run smoothly under Mortimer for years. If someone showed up to fight for the inheritance, it wouldn’t just hurt the company. It would hurt the Blade pack too.

But before the two of them could make a move, Velda had already convinced Edwin to go and “see someone.”

“Grandpa, I heard Seraphina is teaching in the Healing Department at Shadowfang Academy now. You should donate a research building there for her. We could name it Sera Hall. Wouldn’t that be a great gift for her?”

Edwin agreed at once. “Sure. Consider it the wedding gift. That fool Mortimer already signed the agreement with her anyway.”

While signing the papers, Seraphina noticed the staff looking at her differently. After all, transferring more than half the real estate under the head of the Craig Group’s name in one sitting was no small matter in the business world.

Once they left there, Mortimer looked at her and suggested anyway, “I’ll drive you back to school.”

“I drove myself. I can’t just leave my car here,” Seraphina added.

She’d taken more than half his fortune, after all. It had softened her a little. Her tone with him was not that harsh now.

Mortimer gave a bitter smile, a flicker of loneliness crossing his dark eyes. “All right. Be careful on the road.”
