Chapter 259
Third Person’s POV
Velda returned to the packhouse with a heavy heart. She found her parents in the living room of the main house, making crafts for the upcoming Winter Solstice celebration.
Every year around this time, Prunella would buy plenty of red leather and cords. Then, she and Elias would handcraft red bracelets featuring fang symbols.
Everyone in the Blade pack received one-even the Omegas responsible for patrols and cleaning. It was the former Luna’s way of showing she cared for every single one of them.
Ever since Elias handed most of the pack’s operations and defense over to Mortimer, he had spent his days either traveling with Prunella outside the territory or relaxing at home-painting, tending the garden, and doing crafts by her side.
Velda couldn’t accept that her father-the very definition of a loyal mate in her eyes-could have fathered an illegitimate son
behind her mother’s back.
Looking utterly dejected, Velda walked into the living room.
Elias glanced up at her. “What’s with the long face? Didn’t have fun today? Or did your brother cut off your allowance?”
Prunella, who was busy tying knots in the red cords, also looked up. Seeing Velda’s expression, she couldn’t help but tease her with a smile, “Well, this is a rare sight. What could possibly make our little princess look like this?”
Elias laughed. “What else? She’s probably run out of money to spoil all those boys she likes.”
Velda plopped down beside Prunella, then fixed her eyes on Elias sitting across from her.
The more she stared, the more undeniable the resemblance between her father and Caldwell became. Her heart sank even lower.
Prunella set her work aside and stood up. “I’m going to the restroom. You two have a good talk. Honey, if you’re upset because you’ve run out of money, just ask Morty. There’s nothing money can’t solve.”
”
Watching her waltz away, Velda sighed even more heavily. “If Professor Craig really is Dad’s illegitimate son,” she thought, the bloodline we’ve kept pure for generations would have been compromised. That’s a real mess-and money definitely won’t fix it.”
Finally, Elias lost patience with her constant sighing. “What is wrong with you? Did your brother really cut you off?”
“No,” Velda replied, turning back to Elias, her face a picture of misery. She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again, hesitating.
Elias grew more impatient. “Spit it out already.”
Velda glanced around to make sure no other pack members were nearby, then leaned in close to Elias and whispered, “Dad, have you ever… cheated on Mom?”
Elias frowned and smacked her lightly on the head. “What the hell are you talking about?!”
Velda pouted. “I’m giving you a chance. If you come clean now, Mom might forgive you. But if she finds out on her own, you’re dead meat.”
Elias, furious, raised his hand to smack her again, but Velda ducked out of the way.
“I met a guy today who looks just like you,” she said. “He’s about the same age as Morty, and his last name is Craig. There’s no way that’s just a coincidence.”
Then her eyes widened. “Dad, here’s what I think happened. Years ago, you had a one-night stand, and the woman got pregnant. Then she ran away and secretly raised the boy on her own. And now, she’s come back with her son-carrying the

Graig bloodline to reclaim what belongs to them?”
She frowned thoughtfully before shaking her head. “No, wait… that doesn’t make sense. If that’s the case, your mistress wasn’t exactly the brightest. It took her over twenty years to come back.”
Elias stared at her speechlessly.
“Whose ridiculous script have you been reading?he asked.
“My best friend writes web novels on an online platform. They’re amazing! Every one of them gets millions of reads. Want me to send you the links?” She suddenly stopped herself. “Oh, right. That’s not the point.”
That was close-she almost let her father distract her.
“Dad, stop changing the subject and just tell me the truth-”
“The truth about what?” Elias finally snapped.
“What exactly is going on inside that head of yours all day?”
Velda pouted. Her boys, obviously. What else would she be thinking about?
Seeing her father flushed with anger, Velda hesitated. “So… you really don’t have an illegitimate son?”
Elias shot her a sharp warning look. Velda wisely shut her mouth.
Resting her chin in her hand, she thought for a moment. “If it’s not you… could it be Grandpa?”
Elias was stunned.
“Oh, my god. If Grandpa has a son that young, he must’ve been in incredible shape back then.”
“Velda!” Elias bellowed, at the end of his rope.
He pulled a black card from his wallet and shoved it into her hand “Take this card and get the hell out of my sight.”
