Chapter 76
Third Person’s POV
There were things he’d spent years ignoring, telling himself the past was dead and buried.
But looking at the cold, hard facts now? He realized he’d been a world-class prick.
He needed to fix it. Another trip. A real one.
Christmas was coming up-the perfect PR move
Mortimer didn’t waste time. He hit the mind-link.
“Tade. Get in here.”
Tade, who had been slacking off in his cubicle, nearly fell out of his chair.
He let out a mental groan, terrified the Boss was about to finish him for correctly identifying the real Luna earlier.
He scrambled into the office, standing at attention.
“You called, Alpha Mortimer?” Tade flashed his best professional grin.
Mortimer didn’t look up. “Clear my schedule before the holidays. Find a high-end travel firm. I want a two-week itinerary through Scandinavia. Nothing but the best.”
“Travel?” Tade’s eyes went wide. “Sir, you’re hitting the road again? Your last two-week ‘vacation’ ended ten days ago.”
For a man with Mortimer’s workload, that last trip to Alaska had cost him weeks of sleepless nights and back-to-back grinds just to clear his desk.
“Don’t question it. Just do it,” Mortimer barked. “And bring me the updated progress reports.”
Tade didn’t move. He risked a follow-up, his voice dropping an octave. “Can I ask… is this for Luna Seraphina?”
Mortimer’s brow hit a hard knot. “Who else would it be for?”
“Did you… did you actually ask her if she wanted to go?”
Mortimer froze.
He’d planned on the “Grand Surprise” route. He hadn’t even thought about a conversation. “I’ll send her the final itinerary once it’s locked. Why would I ask?”
Tade couldn’t help it. He let out a massive mental eye-roll, and since the mind-link was still live, that wave of pure “you’re an idiot” hit Mortimer square in the brain.
The Alpha’s eyes went ice-cold. A warning spike of psychic pressure flared between them, and Tade slammed his mental walls shut, looking at his shoes.
“Alpha Mortimer, it’s a two-week trip. Luna Seraphina can’t just walk out on the healing center,” Tade said, leaning into the danger.
“I’ve got a buddy who works with her. Last time you guys went away? She had to beg for a month to swap shifts. She worked back -to-back double overnights just to clear the time.”
The color left Mortimer’s face.
He remembered now. The week before they left, Seraphina hadn’t come home for days.
He’d never bothered to ask why. He didn’t know she’d pushed herself to the breaking point just to be by his side.

Then he thought about leaving her in the snow for fourteen days while he flew off to hold Vivian’s hand. The guilt felt like a serrated blade in his gut.
“Maybe… maybe check with her first? See if she can even get the time off?” Tade suggested, watching Mortimer’s expression
turn from dark to lethal.
“Forget it. We’ll talk after the holidays,” Mortimer muttered.
He couldn’t ask her to work more double shifts for him. He didn’t have the nerve.
Tade watched him brood, ready to make a run for it, but his beta instincts kicked in. “Look, Alpha Mortimer. A two-week haul is tough. But what about the corporate retreat?”
Mortimer looked up.
“HR is setting up the year-end gala and the team-building weekend. Invite Luna Seraphina as your official guest. Let the whole company finally see who the real boss is.”
