Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

Third Person’s POV

Holly knew exactly what Vivian was fishing for. She’d seen the influencer’s frantic attempts to kill the stream, and frankly, she wasn’t buying it.

“Oh, come on, Miss Davis,” Holly said, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. “You seemed so happy posting about Alpha Mortimer on your socials earlier. Since he didn’t seem to mind then, I’m sure he won’t mind a little more screen time now.”

She reached out and gave Vivian’s shoulder a reassuring pat. “Relax. He’s a handsome man. We’ll make sure he looks good on

camera.”

Vivian’s face went through three shades of red before settling on a sickly purple.

She knew Holly’s standing in the media world-the woman was untouchable. Threats wouldn’t work here.

“Are you cutting the feed or not?” Vivian hissed.

“That’s a hard no,” Holly chirped.

Holly had orders from the top. The Clayton Group wanted this hearing-every messy, clinical, and personal second of it-

broadcast to the masses.

And the audience agreed.

The chat was a landslide of protests; they didn’t want a lecture on heart valves; they wanted the high-society bloodbath.

Mortimer looked down at his bandaged palm, his voice dropping into a dangerous, detached monotone. “I was under the impression that my status was enough to protect my own mate from being harassed. I was so worried I flew in before I could even change my dressings.”

The room went dead silent.

On the Aurora stream, the comment section exploded into a wall of question marks.

“Wait… HIS MATE?! Who is he talking about?!”

“I am officially losing my mind. What is happening?”

Lillian’s plastic smile finally cracked.

She looked at Vivian, waiting for her daughter to use her “special influence” to`steer the ship back on course. Mortimer wouldn’t humiliate Vivian in public… right?

“Morty, your hand is in such bad shape. You shouldn’t be skipping your meds,” Vivian said, her voice trembling as she tried to pivot the narrative. “You can’t take risks with an injury you got protecting me. If you have permanent damage because of my safety, I’ll never forgive myself.”

She was desperate to remind the room–and the cameras-of their “special bond.”

For a second, her hardcore stans bought it.

“Phew! For a second I thought he meant the doctor. He’s clearly talking to Vivian.”

“Logic check: He’s here for his ‘wife’ Vivian. The haters can stay mad.”

But inside the room, the vibe was a car crash in slow motion. Mortimer took a deliberate step away from Vivian, a physical rejection that looked brutal on high-definition video.

He walked straight to Seraphina.

Seraphina hadn’t expected him to show up, let alone drop the “mate” bomb in front of a global audience.

She looked up at him, her eyes as calm and cold as a winter lake. She didn’t look relieved; she looked like he was an inconvenience she hadn’t planned for

Mortimer felt that familiar, jagged spike of anxiety at her indifference. He let out a low, frustrated rumble in his throat.

He turned to the man standing beside her. “Professor Bauer.”

“Oh, so you finally decided to show up?” Bauer snapped, not hiding his disgust. “I thought you were too busy letting your mate get dragged through the mud on the internet.”

Bauer looked at Vivian’s pale, terrified face and cranked up the volume for the microphones. “The whole internet is calling your wife a homewrecker for ‘stealing’ you from the Davis girl. My best student is being torn apart. So why don’t you tell me, Mortimer-how exactly did your wife break up this ‘epic childhood romance’ everyone is talking about?”

Mortimer froze. He didn’t do social media; he didn’t have a single entertainment app on his phone. He knew Seraphina was being audited for the surgery, but he had no idea she was being branded a mistress.

His eyes flashed gold-a raw, predatory leak of Alpha energy that made the air in the room feel heavy enough to choke on. The aura he released was a physical storm.
