Chapter 98
Third Person’s POV
Even if they hadn’t gone public, the high-level inner circle of the Craig Group knew the deal.
If someone used this “malpractice” scandal to drag Mortimer into the mud, it would hit the stock price. Hard.
To Seraphina, Mortimer’s anxiety wasn’t a sign of care-it was just a CEO protecting his bottom line.
“So, for the sake of the market cap,” Seraphina said, her voice dropping into a cool, professional register, “you should probably fast-track our divorce. That way, my ‘reputation’ stops being a liability for your empire.”
Hearing her push for the split again made Mortimer’s face go a lethal shade of ash.
Inside him, Barton-the wolf-was losing it. The predator couldn’t handle the idea of being discarded.
He was clawing at the bars of Mortimer’s sanity, desperate to take control and snap at anything that moved.
Mortimer glared at her, his eyes full of jagged irony. “What’s the rush? You that desperate to go public with that pathetic side- piece of yours?”
Seraphina felt a flash of genuine heat behind her eyes.
“Is he for real? He’s still obsessing over a dog?”
“Alpha Mortimer,” she said, her voice turning sharp as a scalpel. “Instead of worrying about me, maybe you should focus on the PR disaster coming your way-the one where your precious Vivian tried to murder her own brother. Good luck spinning that one.
She didn’t wait for a reply. She turned and walked away.
“Seraphina! Get back here!” Mortimer roared, the veins in his neck bulging.
He was white-knuckling his Alpha aura, trying not to let it flatten every human in the parking lot.
She didn’t even break her stride. If anything, she moved faster.
“Sir, take a breath. Just… breathe,” Tade stammered, stepping into the line of fire.
“Breathe? She’s cheating on me, and you want me to breathe?” Mortimer shouted at his beta.
Cheating? Who?
“You mean like what you’ve been doing with Vivian for three years?” but Tade dared not to speak it out. 2
“Luna Seraphina? Cheating?” Tade blurted out, his brain losing the filter. “That’s impossible. You’re more likely to cheat than she is.” He realized what he’d said and slammed his hand over his mouth.
Mortimer cut him a look that could have decapitated a man. Tade scrambled for an exit. “I just mean… she’s always been so into you. There has to be a misunderstanding. Maybe it’s not what it looks like?”
“Into him?” Mortimer thought.
Seraphina currently treated him like a piece of office furniture.
“Misunderstanding? The whole damn medical center knows about her ‘boy toy’! I’m the only one who was kept in the dark!”
“Wait, for real?” Tade was actually stunned now. “Luna Seraphina… has a lover?”
Mortimer didn’t answer, his chest heaving with a mix of fury and something that felt dangerously like heartbreak.

Barton was whimpering in his mind-the primal panic of a mate losing his territory.
“If you have something to say, Tade, say it. Stop hovering!”
“Look, Alpha Mortimer… if she did find someone else, you can’t exactly blame her. You’re not exactly Mr. Attentive. You’re married to your desk.”
Tade flipped into “relationship/coach” mode, his voice turning dead serious. “You know why women like those sweet, attentive guys? Because they actually listen. They provide ’emotional value.’ They aren’t cold as a tombstone 24/7.”
He caught the lethal glint in Mortimer’s eye and lowered his voice.
“I’m just saying… she’s a person. People want to feel cared for. Some guy comes along, plays the ‘sensitive’ card, and after three years of your icy silence? Yeah, that’s going to work.”
Mortimer let out a sharp, jagged laugh. “So what? I’m supposed to be ‘gentle’ now?”
“Duh,” Tade thought, rolling his eyes internally.
“You’ve spent all your ‘gentle’ energy on a different woman.”
In any traditional pack, an Alpha treating his Luna with this much public disrespect would have been exiled years ago.
Tade forced a dry smile and stayed quiet.
