“Alright, since you’ve made up your mind……” He stepped back. One step. Then another.
“Then I wish you and Damian all the best,” he said, flashing a wide grin.
“Of course Vivian will be happy with me,” Damian stepped forward, wrapping his arm around Vivian and flashing another provocative smirk. “I can help Vivian’s company secure business partners, land orders, and scale up. I can turn Lockwood Enterprises into a business empire. But you…”
He looked Ethan up and down. “You are nothing but a useless, paranoid, live-in son-in-law. You were never good enough for Vivian in the first place, let alone the fact that you just openly cheated on her with
someone else!”
The word “cheating” seemed to infuriate Vivian, her face contorting.
“That’s right, Ethan. To humiliate me, you actually stooped so low as to publicly play Sophie’s paramour, just to make me jealous and miserable?” Her eyes burned with fury. “Ethan, I never thought you could be so despicable. You don’t deserve to be my husband at all!”
“But you were the one who refused to divorce all this time, and you were the one clinging to me, weren’t you?” Ethan said flatly.
Vivian choked on his words, her rage flaring even more. “Who’s clinging to you?! I was only giving you a chance before because we at least have so many years of history together! I thought that even if you were a stay-at-home husband, you’d at least have a shred of morality and common sense!”
Giving him a chance. Years of history. Ethan couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
In fact, he really was giving Vivian a chance just now-a chance to delay the collapse of the business her father had built from scratch. Unfortunately, Vivian was too stupid.
“In that case, I will grant you your wish,” Vivian raised her head haughtily. “You want a divorce? I agree. Next Monday, we will go to City Hall to finalize the paperwork. Let’s see if Sophie will still take you seriously after that.”
“Do you think you’ll be some hot commodity after the divorce? Do you think Sophie will still be infatuated with you after all these years? Dream on! She’s only using your status as my husband to spite me! Once our divorce is finalized, she’ll dump you, and you’ll end up begging on the streets, pleading with anyone to give you a job!”
“And on the day you finally can’t stand those menial jobs and come crawling back, begging to get back together, I won’t even spare you a second glance!”
With that, a cruel glint shone in both Vivian and Damian’s eyes. They both thought her words would wake Ethan up, making him realize that he would have nowhere to go after the divorce.
Ethan simply let out a long breath. “Thank you for letting me go; this saves a lot of trouble,” he said with relief. “Next Monday, I’ll be at City Hall right on time.”

Both Vivian and Damian were stunned for a moment. Taking advantage of this moment, Ethan hailed a cab, slid inside, and drove away.
