But Reginald wasn’t done. “Relax. Vivian doesn’t know about that.”

Damian forced himself to breathe. What does this mean? Could it be that Reginald has no intention of telling Vivian about this? Would he actually cover it up?

“Here’s the truth,” Reginald said. “I don’t care about your motives. You want Vivian? Fine. But I want to see results. Make this deal happen. Deliver that hundred million. Then we’ll talk.”

Damian let out a huge sigh of relief. Now he understood. As it turned out, Reginald was doing this for the hundred million dollars. In the face of that money, he was willing to let his daughter’s happiness take a

backseat.

Reginald was a shrewd businessman, a trait that had once caused Damian to suffer greatly in their dealings. But thank God, that very same trait was finally working in his favor.

Damian broke into a wide grin. “I will.”

“Good. I’ll have the contract drafted by Monday. You handle your uncle’s signature.”

“Thank you, sir. I’ll have my uncle bring some business and orders your way very soon.” Damian nodded. His heart was hammering, but not from nerves. From the sweet, dizzying rush of a plan falling into place.

Steps one and two, complete.

The next step was to buy off the workers on Lockwood’s production line. And that step was going to be

much easier.

Once the trap is sprung, the initial $100 million used to win trust, along with the $20 million he owes his so-called ‘uncle’, will all be recouped from Lockwood Industries!

The evening air was cool against Damian’s skin as Damian walked out to his car. The Lockwood estate’s garden lights cast long shadows across the driveway. Behind them, the house glowed warm and golden,

but Damian felt none of that warmth.

He was too busy smiling.

“Your father doesn’t object,” he said. “To us.”

Beside him, Vivian was quiet. He glanced over. Her face was unreadable-something flickering behind her eyes that he couldn’t quite name.

“That’s good news, right?” he pressed.

“Yeah.” Her voice was flat. “Good.”
