Chapter 54
Aurora: So. How does it feel? My young lord finally getting a taste of real authority. Does it give you that control-freak rush you’ve been hiding?
Ethan smiled before he could stop himself. Interacting with Aurora never failed to put him in a good mood.
Ethan: It’s fine. The seat’s not exactly comfortable yet.
Aurora: Oh?
Ethan: Getting parachuted in like this-I don’t have goodwill yet. I have to earn it the hard way, or nobody takes the position seriously. Not even me.
A pause. Then:
Aurora: Hm. My young lord is surprisingly grounded. I might like you even more now.
Ethan’s face flushed slightly, and his breathing quickened a bit. Aurora always liked teasing him like this. In that regard, she was actually a bit like Sophie.
Except Aurora knew when to stop, whereas Sophie would make him experience what it felt like to lose control. And that feeling… sometimes even left him a little… captivated.
How strange. Why would he think of Sophie while looking at Aurora?
Ethan: Don’t make it weird. Go back to work.
Aurora: I AM work. I’m literally the CEO.
Ethan smiled again, then pocketed the phone, and walked back to his office, picking a file.
The folder was labeled Transformation Strategy.
A little over three years prior, Aurora had launched Stellaris International Trading with seed funding and full behind-the-scenes backing from his mother, Margaret Carter, the Wall Street tycoon who kept her majority ownership of the firm strictly off the books.
In that time, Aurora had grown it into the largest import/export firm in Crestwood City, but it had hit a hard ceiling.
The only path to further growth was a full, high-stakes transformation: building our own local manufacturing plant, launching our own in-house line of consumer goods, cutting out the layers of middlemen that ate into our profit margins.
If the plan succeeds, Stellaris would dominate the regional market for a decade, maybe longer.
But if it fails, the cost will be just as high.
Before Ethan’s arrival, Stellaris had already purchased multiple plots of land and established several

projects for this purpose. However, out of caution, these projects were still in their early stages and had yet to be implemented.
The project Yvonne had put Ethan in charge of was one of these, located in the economic development zone on the east side of the city.
Throughout the morning and midday, Ethan was fully immersed in studying the project proposal and the other materials handed over to him. It wasn’t until afternoon, as the sunlight began to fade, that he finally stretched, got up from his office chair, and moved around to loosen up.
In just a few hours, he had pretty much thoroughly digested all the project’s details. What he needed to do now was take a trip to the economic development zone for an on-site inspection.
Leaving his office, Ethan headed to the marketing department’s workspace, hoping to find a few employees to accompany him.
He had thought it would be a simple matter. After all, this was a direct request from the deputy head himself. Under normal circumstances, who wouldn’t want to build a good relationship with the newly appointed deputy head?
To his surprise, however, these people all claimed they were too busy with their own work and had no time, telling Ethan to find someone else.
“Is there really no one who wants to go with me?” Ethan asked once more.
