Chapter 58
Aurora opened her mouth. Closed it. She had no answer Sophie would believe.
“I’m telling you the truth,” she said finally.
“No.” Sophie stepped forward, planting both hands on Aurora’s desk. “You’re telling me what you think will make me back off. But I’m done stepping aside for you.”
She straightened, and something in her eyes shifted. Hardened.
“You want to fight me for him? Fine. Let’s see who wins.”
Her hand shot out. The glass paperweight on Aurora’s desk-a heavy thing, a gift from a client- shattered against the floor before Aurora could even register the movement.
Shards scattered across the marble. Sophie didn’t flinch. Didn’t look down.
She simply turned and walked out, her heels clicking a steady, unhurried rhythm.
Aurora watched her go, standing in the wreckage of shattered glass and spilled water.
“Alright, my dear stubborn sister,” she sighed deeply. “In that case, I wish you good luck.”
Aurora waited in her office for a bit. As soon as Sophie left, she immediately had her assistant drive her to the address Ethan had given.
After storming out of Stellaris Trading Company, Sophie immediately headed back to her own office. Her fists remained tightly clenched the entire way, and she grit her teeth, desperately trying to suppress her
raging anger.
Her heart had shattered the moment Aurora sent her that intimate photo of herself and Ethan. She had gone to confront Aurora in person, but she never expected her to offer such a shameless, absurd explanation!
Fuming, Sophie flung open the door to her office. She wanted to summon her assistant immediately to draft and execute a plan targeting Stellaris Trading Company. She had to make Aurora pay!
Then, her footsteps halted.
Her office chair was already occupied.
“Dad, what are you doing here?” Sophie asked, bewildered.
Augustus Whitfield was in his early fifties, broad-shouldered and tall. His years of waging war in the business world seemed to have earned him the mercy of time-he possessed an extraordinary, captivating aura. The only flaw was that his lips were slightly pale.
Augustus spun around in the chair, his gaze locking onto Sophie. “Someone told me you recently found

yourself a young boyfriend?” he said, getting straight to the point, his voice devoid of any emotion.
“Yes, Dad. Why are you suddenly interested in my love life?” Sophie’s confusion deepened.
She took a step forward, intending to sit down next to him just as she usually did.
“Don’t!” Augustus’s voice was suddenly as cold as ice. “Don’t come near me. Just stand there and talk.”
Sophie gasped. What was wrong with her father? What was wrong with today? Why was everyone suddenly turning against her?
“Yes, Dad,” Sophie said cautiously.
“I hear this new flame of yours is different from your past flings. Word has it that you slept together on the very first night you met, and you proudly posted about it on social media afterward to grab everyone’s attention?” Augustus’s voice was dangerously low. “No explanations, and no excuses. Just tell me: yes or no?”
“Yes, Dad,” Sophie muttered, swallowing hard.
“And following that, you frequently went to his office building to pick him up, making sure everyone knew he belonged to you.” Augustus’s voice dropped even lower. “Just last night, you attended his class reunion, humiliated his ex-wife to stand for him, and even got dead drunk for him, to the point of being nearly unconscious today?”
“Yes, Dad.” Hearing these things she had done for Ethan, Sophie felt a small surge of pride, though she did her best to hide it.
“So, are you planning to marry him?” Augustus asked, tilting his head as his gaze suddenly sharpened.
This question caught her completely off guard, and Sophie held her breath. She knew the immense weight of such a question; before her father, she would only get one chance to answer.
She fell into deep thought for a long moment, weighing exactly how she should respond. A heavy silence
stretched between them.
“Yes, Dad,” Sophie said resolutely.
